Well, Katrina rolled through this morning... It was a category 5. We left early Sunday morning for Vero Beach, FL. Alot of people delayed their evacuation. Some waited too long and got stuck on the coast. I've been getting news all day about roofs being blown away, windows being blown out, whole streets being whiped out, walls of waves crashing into the coast... It's so unreal. All of us are saying it's almost like a movie.

I've talked to several people today. Each one gave me more information as far as destruction goes... Laura and her family got stuck on the coast. I hope they're all okay.. Kimberly, Amber, John and some other folks went to Florida. We've all been texting back and forth amongst ourselves and people that stayed in long beach. Amber just heard from Jonathan not too long ago, and he said that everything south of the tracks is ruined. Kimberly just emailed me and told me that everything from st. thomas to sonic is gone. I'd imagine so... we had storm surges up to 28 feet high! With waves on top of that!

I guess that this is happening for a reason... I always seem to look back on things as blessings in disguise. Hopefully this experience will humble us all and make us realize that we need to be grateful for everything the lord provides us with.

We're going to be without power for about a month. That's a LONG time without power... I don't think people really appreciate something until it's gone. I'm going to attempt to make it a personal goal of mine to appreciate things while I have them. Not wait until it's gone...

Dad and Poppy are planning on going back to Long Beach as soon as possible. They're making a list of supplies to take with them. Alot of water, fiber-filled foods, stuff like that. Our plans are really up in the air right now. We don't really have any idea of what we're going back to. We keep hearing that there is complete devastation... i'm gonna get goin. i'll post more later
