For now, still enthused.
MMR. Measles mumps rubella, given twice, once at 12-15 months and once at 12-15years
Measles- Caused by a paramyxovirus. Highly contagious, but the patient doesn't know they're infected during the contagious period, and the virus is airborne transmissible which makes outbreaks very common. Causes the classic macular rash (small red spots), immunosuppression, high fever, and viremia. Death is caused by bacterial superinfection due to the immunosuppression, or just mass viremia. Long term sequelae is an entity called SSPE (subacute sclerosing pan-encephalitis) which is a brain inflammation due to the measles virus several years after the infection initally clears.
Mumps- Other than swollen salivary glands, it can also cause meningitis, encephalitis, pancreatitis, and can have some lasting neurologic problems.
Rubella- not really a lethal infection, but women infected by it during pregnancy have a high rate of significant birth defects.
ok... gumption failing.
