or haphazard or what-have-you but sometimes I wonder if readers really care about subtle gradations in tense and so forth that I apparently don't quite capture from draft to draft(Yes, annoying as it can be sometimes to not be a natural prose stylist, if there is such a thing, I know that is what drafts are for.Still, sometimes it makes me nuts.)
Sometimes, I look at the things people seem to devour, however, and to be honest, my instinct is that they don't care much.
On the other hand, though, publishers care.At least they are supposed to, anyway.(This would all be easier, maybe, if I thought of myself as a sort of "No page before its time," craftswoman whose personal goal was a perfect page.) But those people put out a book a decade, and I've already wasted enough time with one strand of bullshit or another to be quite *that* painstaking. Besides, one of the strands of bullshit was "I'll know When It's Right!" and clearly, I don't.
