I thought that this was really interesting. It's a long speech, but this one part in particular caught my attention and I keep coming back to it and thinking about it.

That's absolutely beautiful, and oh, so true. Wow. I'm gonna go cook some dinner, and then I'm going to watch that video, because I feel like this would be a good thing to hear. I really like the point that she makes about how we tend to spend too much time "looking at our reflectons" by forming clusters full of like-minded people. I think to an extent, it's good to know people who think similarly to how you do, but at the same time, being surrounded by that 100% is dangerous, because it tends to make you more prone to close-mindedness. If you believe one thing, and everyone else believes that one thing, thus, affirming your own beliefs, then you start to feel like you're right, and that there's no other way. So when a different person with a different mindset comes around, it can lead to disastrous results at times. Stereotypes;the whole "I'm right, you're wrong and inferior, you poo, misled person, you" mentality; if worst comes to worst, violence. It's about opening up, and closing, too. You have to open up to things that you may not be accustomed to, and close yourself off from things that are bad for you--but that's where we go wrong lots of times, I think. Sometimes, we tend to see something we don't like, or don't agree with, and mistake it for something that's bad for us. Wow, I'm rambling. Sorry!
Whenever I find something to be particularly compelling, I get the urge to just talk and talk and talk and find out other people's takes on it. I feel an open forum discussion needs to happen. OOOh brb, gonna find some friends and force them to watch this so we can talk about it. 8D .... /nerd

Yeah, I really liked that point too. I think it's an important thing to think about, especially in this day and age when the groups we cluster around ourselves are more and more like us.
Man, now I feel like doing that too. We can be nerds together!
