CT2K8: September 19 Update (Arr, Maties!)

Sep 19, 2008 14:51

It’s just 10 weeks until Chicago TARDIS! As the date gets closer, we will have more and more things to tell you about what to expect at this year’s event. For example…

MORE GUESTS!

Just when you thought the party couldn’t get any more fun, we’ve added more guests to the list. Joining us again will be ROBERT SHEARMAN! The writer of “Dalek,” in addition to numerous plays, radio dramas, and short stories, Robert has recently been nominated for several World Fantasy Award prizes.

We’re also happy to welcome back LARS PEARSON and CRISTA DICKSON of Mad Norwegian Press. Lars and Crista always bring much to the discussion tables, so we’re looking forward to lively talks all weekend.

HELP WANTED!

Be one of the few, the chosen, the insane ….a Chicago TARDIS staff member! We really, really need someone to coordinate volunteers on-site. Responsibilities include scheduling volunteer shifts and keeping track of volunteer hours. If you’re interested, drop me a line off-list with your qualifications, experience (if any), etc.

(If you’ve sent in email volunteering-I’ve probably gotten it, I’m just saving it all for the new Volunteer Coordinator.)

STOP! PANEL TIME!

Yes, it’s time for my annual call for panel topics. I have a huge list already of ideas, but I’m always open to more! Email me off-list with any suggestions you might have.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE SHUTTLE LIST!

Made your flight arrangements already? Then you’ll want to hop onto the chitardisshuttle list over on yahoo!groups. Add your arrival/departure info to the database, and discuss arrangements for sharing a shuttle to the convention hotel. (The company offers a discount for 3 or more people going to the same place at the same time.) Even if you don’t need/want to hook up with anyone else for the shuttle, remember to reserve your shuttle spot before leaving home! You can find a link to the shuttle company on the Chicago TARDIS hotel page.

MORE NEXT TIME!

As always, feel free to lob questions my way, either here or off-list.
