Set your coordinates! Chicago TARDIS will be materializing at the following location this November 28-30:
The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center
Lombard, IL USA
Yes! We're moving out to the western suburbs, where there's plenty of free parking and a more reasonable hotel staff. Room rate is just $95/night single/double/triple/quad, with suites at $135. More room reservation info will follow-- we're still waiting on the group code and online registration information from the hotel.
You'll be glad to know that the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center is close to many of the amenities you've wanted. Located at Yorktown Center, the Westin is close to department stores, fast-food places, and sit-down restaurants. Target is just a short across-the-parking-lot walk away.
Although the hotel provides no airport shuttle, we will be working to get our members a discounted shuttle from O'Hare. (Perhaps Midway, too, depending on the company we go with.)
***A Note about Membership Rates***
This being 2008 proper, the membership rates have indeed gone up. General Admission is now $75 for the weekend, with Reserved Seating at $135. We actually have some all-access seating available at the moment, at $350. With an All-Access membership, you get first row seating, extra meet-and-greet opportunities with the guests, and a special souvenir (among other things). Plus, you help support the convention in a big way!
Like last year, the rates will *not* go up until November 15th, when we cut off pre-registration.
***Going to Gallifrey?****
If you will be heading west this weekend to attend our sister convention in Los Angeles, make sure to come on by the Chicago TARDIS Meet 'n' Greet on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Programming #4. Say "hi" to the con staff, offer up suggestions for the con, or just enjoy *not* being in snow with fellow Chicagoans! Also, if you don't have your membership already, make sure to stop by Gene's table to get a special deal on joining.
**And in closing....*
You've heard about the 4th series of DOCTOR WHO airing on Sci-Fi in April (along with THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES), right?
