Donald Trump has won reelection and has become President Elect of the United States of America. Never mind that he was found guilty in a New York Courtroom of unethical business practices before entering White House politics. It's a state criminal conviction, not a federal courtroom conviction. And it's in a blue Democratic Party controlled state. The Federal Indictments can be easily cleared away. But the state of Georgia filed a state indictment against Donald Trump for using criminal methods to overturn the 2020 election of President Joe Biden. That can't be cleared away on the Federal level. And even if it's a Red Republican Party controlled state, I'm not sure if switching District Attorneys is going to change that.
Anyway, Donald Trump will be the second President of the United States to have two inconsecutive terms in office. The first President of the United States to have two inconsecutive terms in office was Democrat Grover Cleveland. Grover Cleveland was the 22 and the 24th President of the United States from March 4, 1885 to March 4, 1889 and again March 4, 1893 to March 4, 1897. One term Republican Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd President of the United States from March 4, 1889 to March 4, 1893.
Benjamin Harrison also made history as the first grandfather and grandson team to serve in the White House. Benjamin Harrison's grandfather, William Harrison, was the 9th President of the United States from March 4, 1841 to April 4, 1841. William Harrison also made history as the shortest serving President of the United States. His presidency only lasted thirty days before he legally died in office. And we don't know how much of that thirty days was spent actually being President and how much of that was spent dying of a terminal illness that he hid from everybody while running for public office. But that's another blog entry altogether.
Anyway, Democrat Grover Cleveland and Republican Donald Trump are the first and the only double inconsecutive terms in office Presidents of the United States.
Good news everybody, Donald Trump is now a lame duck President of the United States. The Twenty-Second Amendment to the Constitution limits the President of the United States to only two terms in office. Donald Trump isn't allowed to run for President of the United States anymore after the year 2028.
