Is this not the tackiest damn thing that you have ever seen?

Also: whatthedenmark. It's a modern!Hamlet RP, and I just found it and am already in love with their Horatio. Yah, yah, I'm always in love with anyone's Horatio. But they've got a really good one!

..this is what a Shakespeare dork looks like.

I rewatched the film version today! Which is probably what inspired me to browse for Shakespeare communities, and that's why I'm now watching whatthedenmark and have joined rosnguil, lovehamlet, and 1shakespeare. Ys, I'm impressionable.

And yay, Ros&Guil! Theatre Of The Absurd winz.

I dunno, I think that even if Romeo and Juliet had lived through the end of the play, they would have broken up in a week when Romeo fell in "love" with some other hot girl and Juliet start second-guessing herself.

Poss. I'm biased 'cause I've never seen anything romantic about Romeo & Juliet -- tragic, yeah, but romantic? -- and totally fail to see how comparing real-life relationships to theirs is in any way a compliment.

... Wait, they'd all be dead. There would be no one left to sue.

*laughs* Best thing I've heard today!

I like to think that Shakespeare was trying to make a point to all the teenagers in his audiences. A point like: "Don't let your hormones and lust rule you or you'll end up DEAD. Like these two. No, I don't care if you think you're in looove. DEAD. Dead like a very dead thing. Got it? So wait to have sex."

This is how I make it make sense in my head.

Eeesh... That is pretty much tacky.

*waves fellow Shakespeare dork flag* I'm a complete nerd for the Benvolio's of the world.

I'm just left wondering who on Earth decided that was a good idea.

And, ee, Benvolio! ♥ I'll admit I'm a little more partial to Mercutio, but damn if Mercutio&Benvolio aren't one of the best Shakespearean teams everrr. They almost make up for the sheer vexing teenageness of Romeo and Juliet themselves.

Ah yes, Mercutio&Benvolio- Best Shakespeare duo EVER.

And now, for some reason, I'm reminded of the Gender Bender Shakespeare readings we did in ninth grade English. A good friend of mine and I played Benvolio and Mercutio and one of the football players was Juliet. It was amazing.

I'm still trying to put a Gender Bender Hamlet production together so that I can play Horatio. I have absolutely no other reason for trying so hard to get this off the ground. But I wanna play Horatio.

Haha that's ridiculous.
I think any Shakespeare fan would think that's ridiculous.

I think the only people who would actually think that was a good gift are the people who don't know what Romeo and Juliet is about beyond "It's a love story, right? By that playwright guy."

*headdesk*

"Is this not the tackiest damn thing that you have ever seen?"

Not just tacky, but pathetic and horrific.

Every time I think society can't get any lower. :(

I don't understand society. It makes me sad. Is there anywhere totally unpopulated where I can go and live in antisocial anarchistic hermitage?

If you find such a place, can I come with you?

I wrote another Master/Martha one shot, by the way. What IS it with me and those two? It's so wrong...but I love it.

Absolutely, it's a plan.

Wrong pairings are the most fun! Well, maybe not the most fun, that's a generalization, but they're definitely up there. ♥
