2005. Tell you what, I bet you're going to have a really great year.

I actually acquired my copy much earlier this evening, but BBCA is marathoning all of Tennant's episodes and they were in the Martha part of the series and I couldn't stop watching Miss Martha, okay? So I waited until they finished Last Of The Time Lords and then watched it.

Things what I liked:
Wilf. OBVIOUSLY. You win at life, Bernard Cribbins. You win at life.
TIME LORDS. Not there very long, but OMG YAY. And WTF Rassilon, but okay.
The first half was like an action movie! Not a brilliantly-written action movie, I don't think, but a fun adventurous romp. Cheers for that.
"Cactuses." "Cacti." "That's racist."
906 years old? Oh, Doctor, you're such a liar.
The "get out of the way" meaningful echo. OMG. I'm'a miss you, John Simm. You were brilliant.
The moment The Doctor rubs his face and it heals. SO CREEPY FOREBODING AWESOME.
Doctor/Wilf hugs are lovely and we should have more of them.
"Did I miss something? AGAIN?"
The second half is shameless fanservice. BUT REALLY GOOD FANSERVICE.
MARTHA. And Martha's awesome hair. I really like the braids, whatever.
MICKEY. And Mickey's awesome beard. Oh, Noel, you're a shameless liar.
MARTHA AND MICKEY AS FREELANCE ALIEN HUNTERS. OMG Awesome.
Ten saving Luke's life. And a Clyde shoutout! And Sarah's expression. I didn't cry, but I got teary.
Jack/Alonso. Socute.
Donna's wedding. And the family hugs and kisses and they all look so happy and she and Shawn (was his name Shawn?) look so in love.
The return of Rose's Boomtown scarf! I love that scarf, it's so cute. Also, that whole scene was well done. Again, socute.
ELEVEN. And his inventory of his body. Legs and arms and eyes and nose and hair and Adam's apple. *glee* And STILL NOT GINGER. I'm really excited about Matt Smith, I don't think that's a secret, I think he's going to be ridiculously awesome.
The general cinematography of this episode.
WILF. It bears repeating.

Things what I didn't like:
The way various plot threads got handwaved away because...RTD didn't feel like coming up with actual resolutions? He ran out of time with all the fanservice in the second half? :/
Wow, the inclusion of Donna in the actual plot came to nothing, did it? Not that there was a lot of plot, but y'know. It didn't affect her and she didn't affect it. :/
"To get my reward."
Martha/Mickey. Look, Martha is my favorite New Skool companion. Mickey is probably my second favorite. I love them both to pieces. And I ship them, I do, I think they'd be awesome together, but that the way it was written just doesn't remotely work for me. NO. Also I ship Martha/Tom and he doesn't even get a handwave. Maybe I'm fanwanking a situation where Martha, Tom, and Mickey are all married to each other. Alt!Jake can come too.
That was the longest regeneration ever, wtf.
Ten's last words. :(
YoU BROKE THE TARDIS.

No one will be able to convince me that the mystery Time Lord woman isn't the Doctor's daughter. (Susan's mom, not Jenny.) IT IS MY HEAD CANON NOW. I DON'T CARE IF IT DOESN'T REALLY MAKE SENSE.

I didn't cry over the regeneration, but I did get really emotional. More emotional than I thought I'd be, really, given the rather anticlimactic past year. I'LL MISS YOU, TEN. YOU WERE BRILLIANT AND I FANGIRLED YOU AND I WILL MISS YOU AND DAVID TENNANT'S AMAZING GEEKINESS.

...but Eleven's going to rock. (I maybe kind of gleed over the trailer like eight times so far tonight.)

Anyway, the good outweighed the bad, and I think that means I liked it. I'll have to watch it again to be sure, but as BBCA is airing it tomorrow (er, late tonight) that shouldn't be a problem.

Going to bed now.

squee, fandom, wtf no, omgwtf, confusing reactions, zomg i love this show, doctor who
