P.I.G period 2

What is PNAC? It stands for Project of the New American Century. a US political neo-conservative think tank, based in Washington, DC co-founded by William Kristol and Robert Kagan. The group was established in early 1997 as a non-profit organization with the goal of promoting US global hegemony. It is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; and that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle.
This project basically believes that America should have absolute control over not only our own country but the world as well. This is the complete opposite of Luis Teodoro’s view in his article “Regime Change, U.S.-Style.” Teodoro states “It is that another country has the right to decide for another who should govern it.” While the PNAC homepage states “We aim to change this. We aim to make the case and rally support for American global leadership.” Imagine if one day a whole different country, such as Pakistan had complete control over us, how we would feel. Sure it sounds good to American’s, why not. But how is the rest of the world going to feel, you have to play devils advocate in this situation.
America should be involved in some foreign issues, but to have complete control is not right. Teodoro says “The influential Washington-based project for the New American Century (the name itself resonates with visions of the world empire) is unashamedly committed to total US military and political global dominance. The project looks far beyond regime change in Iraq to regime change everywhere in the world where governments do not suit US interests, including China.” Regime change is the overthrow of a government (or regime) considered illegitimate by an external force (usually military), and its replacement with a new government according to the ideas and/or interests promoted by that force. So many people have died, including American troops because we are over in Iraq fighting a war that we don’t need to be in. The fact that PNAC believes we can control an entire world is crazy, we can barely control our own country.
