The Nature of Love

God is love, then must love be God?

The very nature of love, true love that is, makes us unworthy of it. If then, no one is worthy of true love, it means that is not something that we can earn, it's not something we deserve like a wage for being a certain way or not being a certain way. This means that love, real love, can only be given. Any attempt to earn it, win it, deserve it, buy it or demand it will fail. Therefore who are we to deny, withhold our love from those in our lives when we ourselves are also unworthy? I'm not talking about eros, romantic love, but agape love, God love, unconditional love which is a love uninfluenced by circumstance. This how God loves us. He looks past what we've done, and loves us where we are. He accepts us, and relentlessly waits for us to accept HIS love. How many times His love has been disguised...things that I thought were trials, troubles and tribulations turned out to be beautiful blessings. Sometimes it takes giving up something I'm afraid to surrender to have the true blessings. I can not imagine what my life would have been like if I had not given Quinn up... I would not know any of you and my life would not be as rich as it is...and many of the deep desires of my heart would go unanswered...and the love that I was made for, that I seek daily in almost everything that I do, I would not be able to give back. I would not be able to give at all because there would be nothing left. My life would be about me and what a sad, existance that would be...because I can not sustain myself and I would starve myself. Love thrives on love. Love can even thrive on hate, but love can not thrive on selfishness, or a unabated, conentrated love of ones' self...Narcistic love.

There proves the challenge, to love as I am loved by God regardless of how I am loved by others. To love from the overflow of the love of God in my life because I too am unworthy of that sort of love...unworthy of Him, and His approval of me. Yet it is because I am unworthy that demonstrates the true character of that love, and the character of God.
