Today Apologetics got me thinking about what is the most important thing in witnessing that I am aware of but ultimately never end up using. I think it is difficult enough to get people to even consider the truths that Christianity claims to know and even more difficult at times in making valid and convincing arguments for those beliefs.
I think that we forget to tell people is that their is this burning void in each of us that longs to be filled and as humans we try to fill this void with everyother thing possible whether we are searching for an unconditional love or whether we are just searching for something more than wealth and sucess. As a result was get caught up in the pleasures of the world, the pleasures that advertisements and society says will be fulfilling--things that are only temporary; things that wind up being addictive as we look for the first feeling it gives us and things that never fill that void at all. We are all searching for more in life.
And no matter how long we search, the only time we ever truely find what we are looking for is when we find God and when we are changing our lives so that the only "something more" we are looking for is God.
Adam and Eve had everything the could have ever wanted--all of their physical needs were met as well as their spiritual ones. But because of sin we have been separated and nothing else--not our "good works," nor our sucess nor our other relationships in life can mend that connection. But Jesus changed all of that. He made it possible to re-establish that relationship with God.
To me this is one of the best things that makes the most logical sense. The main reasons someone would reject this argument is because 1. they have not acknowleged that void 2. if they did begin to accept God then it would mean changing their life to not focus on the other pleasures in life and 3. whatever is the road block stopping them from meeting God--pride, wealth, bitterness etc.
So many people are broken in this world--they can't find love, they can't find lasting happiness, they can't find peace. My heart burns for them, wishing they would stop their search, cast aside all pride, throw up their white flag and stop fighting God.
I wish people would realize that they aren't beyond God's grace and that "nothing can separate them from the love of Christ."
