Yes...
So on Sunday we got a ride home from some different church members (an older husband/wife), and my mom was complaining to them about my dad and how he's been angry with me too much, and how he's stressing me out which in turn stresses her out.
Then she explained how he's been messing with the computer which prevents me from working on the Potter Party. She proudly explained how I'm organising the event for a Harry Potter book and then suddenly the husband said, "Harry Potter? Oh but that's witchcraft!" And I felt my insides go hot and before I could say anything my mother made an exasperated sound and said, "It's fiction! Just a children's story, nothing bad about it." And he said something else but it was in Indo and I didn't understand, but it couldn't have been something bad cuz my mom didn't reply.
But that's the first time I've heard her defend the books with other people... usually I'm the one who always talks to her about wanting to defend the books when people make stupid statements about them. It both surprised and delighted me.
Makes me so darn thankful that my mother trusts my judgment this much, and feels that what I choose to read is fine with her as long as I'm fine with it. She's never even read the books and she defended them... which is a lot better than never reading them and condemning them. Innocent till proven guilty, as they say.
