Con Report and CNE report!

Sep 03, 2006 22:14

Okie doki! So yesterday and Friday, I went to the CNE convention with Aggie.. I know we agreed to do a one-day thing, but CN is a jackass and the one-day pass gets you pretty much ONLY into the dealer's room. And that's about it. So we just got the 3-day pass. No choice. Pretty fun though! =D Since my con-report is picture-laden (as is my cne-report), I've placed the rest behind a cut.

Friday I met up with aggiechan after my LAST DAY OF WORK (*sob*... that means school is starting :( *sigh*), and we headed over to the convention. Lineup wasn't so bad (thank goodness), and we went straight to the dealers room. Aggie bought a whole bunch of Count Duckula comics (hahaha), and I got.. THESE!!!:

Note: when we met Pan, I went to go pick up my purchases of those above items, and when I came back, she looked at them, was silent for a moment, then shook her head and said, "..Why am I not surprised? Nothing's changed..." lool XD I'm such a nut ^^;;

They were 10 bucks each, and the small ones were 7, but they had a deal for 3 for 30, and throw in a small one for free, so I went along with it. I just couldn't help it. I suppose it's fitting that I've chosen to place them on my bookshelf. Absolutely adorable.. I can't resist HP-cuteness. ^^;;

Then we went to Anime Name That Tune.. Aggie got to go in a round, and I helped her out with.. one song hahha, it was for Fushigi Yuugi.. I just subtly moved my lips to form the words "Fushigi Yuugi".. I'm glad she was able to read them. We also met up with Mike.. good to see him again after so long.

Saturday we got there around... 9:45 am or something like that, and we went in the dealer's room again, and I got manga.. lots and lots of lovely Yaoi. <3 Pictures below!

Yes.. La Esperanca vol 2... was in my purse, and I was too lazy to bring it upstairst to get a picture of all 5.. LOL ^^;; I'm sneaky about getting photos..

Sidestory: that picture is from a the publisher's website, which used a PHP-pop up to try to prevent people from hotlinking I suppose, but also to prevent people from right-clicking (cuz in the pop up, right-clicking doesn't bring up a menu at all).. so I chose "CTRL+A" to select the image, then I bookmarked the address of the "popup", then I made a new tab and opened the bookmark, then since I couldn't right-click, I just went to view>page source> and then I was able to view the image's real link.. and thus I've hotlinked. Because I'm twisted that way and I enjoy getting back at people who try to prevent me from getting their images.

Back to the main report~:

Aggie got MORE Count Duckula comics, and some Full Moon wo Sagashite manga, and then we went to Anime Name that Tune... again lol, then we ate, then.. back in the dealer's room, then we lined up for the Anime Music Vids (most of which SUCKED ASS by the way.. totally boring. Too much angst/lovey-dovey-crap/emo/drama, and like... ONE comedy video.. utter crap.), then we lined up for the Masquerade, which had a lineup forming almost 3 hours before it actually started. So we took turns looking after the spot. While Aggie and Mike were looking after the spot, I went back into the Dealer's room and bought yet another HP-related item from the Artist's Alley, fanart of The Marauders (minus wormtail):

Close up of their faces!

And.. yeah. Masquerade was good. I loooved whoever controled the camera. Bloody brilliant. Kept focusing on Gordon's crotch-area.. hahahaha soooo funny. Everyone kept laughing and Gordon was totally lost. He was still funny though.. some of his jokes were so brilliant. I loved when he started talking to the bunny. BUNNY! Then.. aggie and I went to the Strathcona hotel, and they TOOK SO BLOODY LONG TO START UP THE KARAOKE, so we left at 11:40 pm and went home. All in all, pretty good con. Weird that this summer I made the most money and probably spent the close to the least amount I've ever spent in my history of con-going.

On the upside, I saw VERNE (I remembered his name!), the man who played the role of "Mini-Me" in Austen Powers. A lot shorter than I thought he'd be, but I found it adorable.

So.. today, I went to the CNE with my mom. =D Bought lots of stuff.. haha. First, I got some old coins (yes.. can you tell I love antiquities?), one is a coin from 1953 for "FIVE SHILLINGS", another is a penny from 1901 (woo!), amd the other is... a commemorative coin or something, which is also from 1953. Pictures of the fronts and backs of the coins are below:

And then I got a looovely Celtic-weave ring for 15 dollars... the nice middle-aged man gave it to me for 15, when its original price is 20 dollars. ♥ ♥ ♥

And lastly, I bought myself yet another amber necklace. I don't know how many of you remember how my necklace from last year looked (I still wear it when I feel like it! =D), but I got this new one from the same place as I did last year. They always make their jewelry 30-50% off in the last 3-2 days of the Ex. So mine was originally 30 dollars, and therefore became 15 dollars, 17 after taxes. ♥ ♥

Annd... then my mom and I shared a crepe (ugh.. SO good.. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ *drool*), and then we watched a big, dark jet fly around (VERY noisy.. so damn cool though), then we went home.. all in all, a good day also. =D I'm happy with what I've got.. so yay ^^.
