this is my first tutorial ever as requested by her_lovelyheart.

we are going from
to

1. duplicate your base twice, set the first duplicate to screen and set the second to soft light. you might need to change the opacity according to your image and you may even have to add another screen layer.

2. next, add a selective color layer, and set it to:

reds:
cyan: -6
magenta: +7
yellow: -40
black: 0

yellows:
cyan: 0
magenta: 0
yellow: +2
black: 0

set this to an opacity of 100%.

3. this layer is not used in this icon but with some images the coloring turns out too purple/magenta. so if that happens add this selective coloring layer:

reds:
cyan: 0
magenta: 0
yellow: +24
black: 0

set this to an opacity of 100%.

4. next add a color fill layer with #dec9b4 set it to lighten, with an opacity of 23%.

5. next duplicate the first selective color layer, drag it to the top and set it to soft light with a opacity of 40%.

and that's it! hope this is helpful :)
but you need to remember that in order for it to look best with most images you're gonna have to play around with the opacity, and things like that.
