A Very Colorless Portalocity Departure Lounge, Saturday evening

Well, this had to be a first for Harper Finkle.

A while back when she found herself taking a very extended layover in a grayscale universe that was devoid of color, she found herself alternately crying and questioning her sanity. But when people kept stopping and asking about her dress, Harper realized that there was a lot that she could do with stripes and polka dots.

Her rapid rise to the top of the black and white fashion industry was unprecedented. And as the commissions and the money kept pouring in, Harper decided that she could settle for graybacks instead of greenbacks. She was certainly more respected here than she ever was in her own world. Even though she missed her friends, she was happy.

The launch of her plaids paisley collection brought everything to a screeching halt. Harper had no idea that it would be so controversial or that it would lead to her being chased out of the grayscale fashion world.

Once again, Harper was back a Portalocity ticket counter, searching for upcoming departures to multiverse destinations that were a bit more palatable. She would have gone anywhere from the Bermuda Triangle to Whoville to get away. However, there was one departure within the hour that she never thought she'd see again.

"You mean the portal to New York City is really available this time? I'll take a one-way ticket, please."

why portalocity why?
