Kobe beef is very tasty, yes. It's also hideously overpriced in America. It's good, but not $100 steak good. Kobe is only the most internationally famous brand of Japanese beef, and very few Japanese people actually think it's the best. There are better kinds of beef here, such as Matsusaka and Hida. I'm not sure how available these are in the states...clearly, your only choice is to come visit! If you do, I will treat you - yes, treat you! - to a super awesome Japanese beef dinner that is way better than the obligatory Kobe steak you find at so many pricey restaurants back home.
