Ain't nothing going on but history.

When I woke up this morning, I realized that I had forgotten to post about my favorite part of Thanksgiving! Many of us were gathered downstairs, including my Uncle Fred, and we were flipping channels after watching Cars. Flipping right to Junior, which is about mpreg. And Uncle Fred was being all analytical (ABOUT MPREG) and I was staring at the carpet, mentally chanting don't say anything don't say anything and biting my lip to keep from laughing and it was wonderful. Sometimes I love it when Uncle Fred encounters new things and tries to wrap his fantastically smart brain around them. BECAUSE HE JUST DOESN'T GET IT.

Finally worked out again (it's been two weeks!) and concealed the last remnants of my cough very well. Also, have lost three pounds while I was sick, which makes me happy. I'm one of those people that gains weight very easily but has a bitch of a time losing it.

Oh, TAR. You give me love, so much love. I really wasn't that upset that the Beauty Queens were eliminated from The Amazing Race. One team (Tyler/James) that I still can't tell apart is enough! I swear, all white people look alike. I loved the duality of the Rob/Kim affirmation of togetherness coupled with their complete breakdown at the tomato-throwing detour versus Lyn/Karlyn's nasty fight leading to Karlyn very calmly getting it done at the detour and apologizing. Well done, Amazing Editors. Also, I love how the needle-in-a-haystack detour actually finished before the strength one. That was awesome. I'm all psyched for the season finale next week; have no idea who's going to win and don't have a preference. TAR! You're back, baby! Totally redeemed!

And now I will post some music. This is going to be eclectic. Hang on, people.

Star Wars Christmas Album - Christmas in the Stars
Star Wars Christmas Album - R2D2, We Wish You a Merry Christmas

And I'll get that C&D from LucasArts any minute now. While we're waiting, anyone have a link to the Christmas special in all its video glory? I've only heard tell of its horrifically funny awfulness secondhand. Or you can tell me about it. More truthier than me seeing it, because the impressions will come from your gut.

Lily Allen - Smile (Aaron Lacrate Gutter Remix)
Lily Allen - Smile

No one is putting out better songs that focus on schadenfreude than Lily Allen. And if "Smile" doesn't put a little demented grin on your face...well, then, you obviously aren't me. I love the original, but I also didn't know I craved the beats until I heard the remix. The remix is also nice and short, which I love.

The Music - The Walls Get Smaller

I only wish that the quality was better, so that while I kick back and listen to this ULTIMATE JAM MUSIC OF AWESOME on my headphones, it wouldn't sound so crappy. I guess pirates can't be beggars. ...Wait. That doesn't sound right.

The White Stripes - Aluminum
The White Stripes - I'm Bound To Pack It Up
The White Stripes - Why Can't You Be Nicer To Me?
The White Stripes - Astro
The White Stripes - Never Far Away
The White Stripes - Little Bird
The White Stripes - Let's Build A Home
The White Stripes - Who's A Big Baby?
The White Stripes - The Hardest Button To Button
The White Stripes - Forever For Her

Wait, wait, hear me out! The White Stripes (by which I pretty much mean Jack Black III) have put out this album of classical arrangements of their songs. And, frankly, you don't need to know these songs to be totally enraptured. (I know, like, two songs.) I think I've been listening to those string quartet tributes too much, because the full (or fuller) sound of an orchestra just blows me away. Plus, for a band that consists of a bassist and a drummer, it's incredibly layered and musically interesting. Just listen to The Hardest Button To Button before you dismiss my ramblings as crazy.

They only put out 3,333 copies of this CD (999 of the LP), so good luck getting your mits on it. (What, exactly, is so evil about letting people who still like physical representations of music buy it that way?)

Even more super awesomeness? They're using the music for a ballet.

I'm expecting at least the Star Wars fans to click on that LJ cut. *stern look*

family reunions suck, the amazing race, music is my kryptonite
