I can write in words. I am totally qualified to be a TV critic.

EEEEEEEE. I think I just got my dad hooked on 30 Rock. I am The show is so good.

Speaking of TV (that I watch on my computer), anime that I downloaded! And then deleted! Because 80 GB is nooot enough~~~, but it is such a lovely plaaace to staaart, my love--er. Sorry. I've been on a musical and opera kick recently. (Speaking of which, a fine arts connoisseur discovers YouTube, and it's actually really interesting. Especially the number from the Carrie musical. Holy shit.)

So I'm gonna try to reconstruct what I've been watching the last few days. I've only watched one or two episodes of all of these, so take it with a grain of salt.

Busou Renkin: An easy-going cross between Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Fullmetal Alchemist. It's as if Orihime and Ichigo were siblings, Rukia was Doctor Octopus' prodigy and damn angsty, and alchemy came from the motherfuckin' heart. Points in favor include: the (male) villain wears a butterfly mask, there seems to be a one week time limit for the quest, and yay! secret identity. Points against: a bit bland, a bit formulaic, and a bit forgettable. Still pretty charming, though. Verdict: might re-download.

Sasami Magical Girl Club: ADORABLE. I love the animation, the eyes especially. I also like the voice acting, which eschews high-pitched, screechy voice acting. And they still sound like children! Mihoshi, Washu, and the cabbitt show up from the Tenchi series. I think this is a remake of what was called Magical Project S in the U.S. Unfortunately, Sasami's parents' personalities did not make the transition to the new show. Boo! Strangely enough, though, it reminds me way more of Ojamajou Doremi. Which I've already seen. Verdict: thanks, but no thanks.

Candy Candy: It's set in INDIANA. (Or Illinois, but that's not as funny.) INDIANA. THERE ARE RANCHES IN INDIANA. INDIANA. I CAN'T GET OVER THAT FACT. This is one of those animation classics that exudes pure cheese and yet, it kinda worked for me. Well, when I wasn't laughing in places I shouldn't have been laughing. Sincere emotion gets me every time! Verdict: I'll try episode two and see.

Red Garden: Hands down, the best opening I've seen in ages. (You should watch it.) I can't say enough about Red Garden; I was absolutely drooling over the English dub that would totally kick ass for this show...and then the main character broke into song. A song that was almost out of key and would do a shoe-gazer proud. So, I'm kind of torn. The songs almost work for me, but the rest of the show definitely works. Genuine mystery, suspense, horror (I jumped and tensed up multiple times during the second episode), and in what might be the most important endorsement, I haven't deleted the episodes yet. Verdict: I can't wait to watch episode three.

Kemonozume: In fifty words or less: Weird animation, nudity, sex, demons, close-up of loose bowels, live-action shots, monkey! MONKEY. Seriously. The monkey will kick your ass with a peach. Hmm. The animation didn't really work for me (and I so could have lived without seeing the large intestine do its thing), but I loved the sex scene and it advanced the plot! (No, the plot was not that something was broken and a scantily clad lady needed a big, strong man to fix it.) Verdict: Monkey! I mean, I'll most likely watch at least episode two.

Death Note: The opening rivals the entire series of Evangelion for Christian symbology. Now I will destroy the suspense: I'm already following this show, I'm just trying to decide between fansubbing groups. Anyone got a recommendation?
