Total volume of music files on my computer:
4.93 GB, 988 files, 75:45:38 or so. The good news is that most of it is totally legal!
The last CD I bought was:
Tori Amos, The Beekeeper (limited edition). Not worth the extra $5 for the extra song, interviews, and fucking *SEED PACKET*. But the album is very good. "Ireland" should be taken out back and shot, and I'm still not sure about "Hoochie Woman," but the rest is right up my alley.
The last song I listened to before writing this:
LCD Soundsystem, "Daft Punk is Playing at My House"
DORKY GOODNESS, OH EEM GEE. Mucho love for LCD Soundsystem and their possessive love for Daft Punk.
Five songs I have listened to a lot:
That's a pretty tall order. I go through phases, as I'm sure everyone does. Hmm. I'll go with what are probably my most favorite songs ever that I can think of right now. (Of course, I will remember one that I like better five minutes after I post this, but I'll stay firm and not push the edit button.)
Nirvana, "Lithium"
The B-52's, "Love Shack"
Tori Amos, "Carnival"
Okui Masami, "Toki ni Ai wa" (from the Utena movie)
Soundgarden, "Spoonman"
Five songs that I have been listening to a lot in the past couple of months:
In no particular order:
David Last, "Secret Society"
I usually don't like slowcore techno, but this one seems to have a quirky sense of humor. I find myself listening to it on repeat a great deal.
The Blow, "What Tom Said About the Girls"
Cracks me up every time I hear it.
Mia Doi Todd, "The Way"
Anything I've been able to think of to describe this song sounds trivial. It's so angry and sad and beautiful all at the same time.
The Killers, "Mr. Brightside"
I KNOW. This song is so massively overplayed, and yet every time I think I've reached the apathy stage of overplayed songs, I find I am SADLY MISTAKEN. I haven't even left the "Oh! 'Mr. Brightside!' I'll keep listening to the radio, then" stage yet.
Betty Serveert, "Attagirl"
Too damn catchy. I didn't like it all that much when I first listened to it, but then found myself humming it all day during classes. Now I recognize it's brilliance. Plus, it's fun to belt out the chorus.
Five people I am passing this baton to:
Um, nobody! :) I hate passing things like chain letters on. If you'd like to do it, go right ahead. (You don't need to include downloads. That was my need to spread the love of music I like addition.)
