Guh. Woke up this morning and it was already 77°. I...don't think I'm going to survive this hellish heat that's supposed to last until the end of the month. It's so bad that I'm desperately looking forward to Saturday, when the temperature is supposed to cool down to 87°.
Oji tries to get Black Heaven back together, and succeeds in having an epic drinking night with his old friends. They reminisce and catch up with each other, and then Oji springs his request on them. They all laugh, because, seriously, space aliens? And they keep drinking, and keep drinking....
When Oji gets an emergency call in the middle of the day, he contacts all his friends, but everyone is busy. Hoping that they'll just show up next time, he visits them after work (and saving aliens in a space battle) and realizes that his dreamed of reunion probably isn't going to work. All of them have kids and jobs and other responsibilities, and his story most likely sounded crazy to them all.
Awww...poor Oji, with his woobieness and his broken guitar string and his crushed dreams. I really dug this disc, especially the band gathering at Oji's place, and his wife, Yoshiko, getting all irritated by talk of the old days (and the fact that Layla is there!). I hope a certain groupie can graduate to regular. [/unnecessarily vague spoiler]
Oh, and there was this:
YES, MULDER AND SCULLY. I don't remember much of anything about the Japanese dub of The X-Files, but I don't think the same actor voiced him in Black Heaven. (I checked out the English dub for this scene, and they didn't even try to imitate Mulder and Scully's voices. Boo, I say. BOOOOOOOOOOO!) Besides, he's not Fox Mulder, he's Jack. And Scully's blond. And they get defeated by men women in black. It was perfect.
The other thing is this, which I saw way before even contemplating purchasing this show:
