Perhaps I should update this damn thing.

It rained rain today in a way I have never seen before. Many, many streets flooded. Our lawn flooded. Our basement flooded a little. There are puddles of water on the grass and it's still raining. Was quite a feat just coming home.

On to hockey. O Captain, my captain? Out, again, for the first time in eighteen years. Hart finalist? Out. The best face-off cheater in the league? Out. Freakin' appendicitis for the rookie defender? Yeah. But enough was enough. The hockey gods wouldn't stand for that shite.

Stanley Cup Finals, babyyyyyyyyyy!

I have to say, this playoffs has been one of the most entertaining sporting events I've ever watched. The Cardiac Canes' run through the East, what with a last second goal and an astounding effort (or horrible breakdown, if the Devils are your team) in the last 1:30 of Game 7 to not only erase a one-goal deficit, but grab victory in the waning seconds. Ovechkin's goal against the Rangers in, essentially, junk time. Varlamov's save on Crosby. Federov's Game 7 winner (he still has it! I'm gonna miss him when he goes to Russia). The 'Canes winning their second Game 7 against top-seeded Boston. Malkin's sick goal on Ward. And those are just the things that didn't involve my team.

Also, my mother confessed to me (even before he scored the overtime winner) that she is in love with Darren Helm. I know the feeling. At least we are not alone.

ETA: Oh, fuck me. Game 1 is on at a time when I'm going to be at a bachlorette party. Maybe I can turn the game on sans sound for a few minutes here and there. Dammit! At least it wasn't the next weekend, I suppose, but I do not condone this back-to-back games bullshit.
