I has a computer!! *rejoices* It's very pretty and fast and has a 22" monitor and speakers with a subwoofer (I had no idea how much different 2.1 sound was to crappy laptop speakers until now), and is my precious. MY PRECIOUSSSSSSSS.
I named it Kyouko, because I had just finished reading Skip Beat! vol. 12 (oh, I love that series so damn much

Yeah, that's the one. It's totally awesome and should be required reading for any shounen manga fans who believe shoujo doesn't have any action, especially of the ones who like the fighting/tournament subgenre. It does have some problems with "genetic destiny", which I'm not a fan of, but on the whole I love the series so. ♥ The only problem with recommending it to people is that it's so frickin' wordy and has scared away many fan translators because of it. Because of this, I think the last two or three volumes haven't been scanlated at all. (I believe there's a members-only yahoo group out there that's doing some HQ releases, but they started back on volume 7 or something, because that's where the scanlations started getting patchy.)
Between Skip Beat! and Tokyo Crazy Paradise, if I could only recommend one despite how much it would hurt my soul, I'd go for TCP. TCP was better plotted (I'm just getting up to the point in SB where the plotting goes to heck for a few volumes and a totally unnecessary and creepy character is introduced) and, despite being older, better artwork. (In the leading men contest of looks alone, TCP's Ryuuji beats out SB's Ren in my mind)
Did you hate the Special A anime or manga?
Anime. I watched the first three episodes, couldn't remember any supporting cast members and wanted to hurt Kei a great deal. I did try the manga when I was last at the bookstore, but found the first chapter was almost unreadable. There was no flow to it, and I often couldn't figure out what was going on. I'll try it again if you say it gets better, though. :)
Hey, are you watching Itazura na Kiss this season? Any thoughts? Is it better than It Started With a Kiss?
Patty turned me onto Diana Wynne Jones. After reading Howl's Moving Castle I was hooked. So many differences between it and the movie. Her other books seem to be pretty good so far (The Game was a little eh.)
Oh, Her Majesty's Dog is another pretty good one.
*runs off to see if library has these* Would you believe I've never finished HMC (the book)? I think I need to fix that now. Thanks!
