2 down, 3 to go. Not much happening beyond finals studying. I caved in and bought myself a copy of A Short History of Myth as a present. Looks interesting. I've heard a couple people say good things about Karen Armstrong, so hopefully it'll be a book to enjoy. It looks pretty light, though. (Or at least as light as a book can be that still deals

You tempt me. Thanatos? I found this lovely quote, and it made me laugh:

"He died when he was struck on the lips by one single fig. Alas, Thanatos is never at a loss for an occasion."

Emphasis mine. Speak not of figs, however, as I hate them. :P

If not that - because I had such a hard time searching for any information on him - Bastet. Cats. And wherever you want to take that. I wonder what she supposedly preferred as offerings? I can find plenty of information on Isis, but none on the cat goddess.

OOooh! Interesting. That's a lovely quote. Where's it from?

I know Bast's temple at Per-Bast contained a lot of cats, but I don't think they were offerings so much as buried there. Other than that, I can't remember ever reading what she preferred as offerings. Strange.

I found the quote here - there are a ton of others, too, all interesting. That page was a paradise after the desert of the rest of the internet. :p Okay, I admit, I didn't search that hard, but still.

Thanatos as a winged youth appeals to me, anyway. Also, more reading on Egypt is obviously called for! Who knows if we'll ever find the answer to this particular question, though.

Well, sort of. Hope you don't mind the human PoV, but I couldn't find a way to make a god's PoV believable enough I was happy with it. If nothing else - pretty boy! with wings! :D
