1991 Long Island/1997 Pittsburg Script minus songs for POSTERITY.

Feb 16, 2011 16:26

Holy heck Batman. I am deep into the crazy right now. I hope that I cool my passion a bit after I finish listening to all these new soundtracks. Knowing me? It's kinda unlikely.

Script made from what I can hear/infer. Will be working on this for awhile. When it's done I'll post it somewhere if anyone can think of a place I should? frayedshoelace any suggestions ( Read more... )

script, chess

How sad that the best his country's produced / Is crumbling in front of our eyes and reduced, etc.

Pittsburgh has the French reporter asking (in accented English) "Mr. Trumper what is your opinion on the--" Long Beach has something like "Monsieur Trumper qu'est-ce que c'est votre favori--". Either that, or "qui est-ce que c'est", I'm not sure.

Since it seems like you're listening to the Pittsburgh recording too, HAVE MY COMMENTS xD: Listen to the track Nobody's Side. There's some (spoken) action that happens after the song proper is over. This Molokov's performance is to die for (WALTER YOU BASTARD!) And the Freddie sounds surprisingly feminine (Mulan, imho.) And Walter is a... gangster? ghetto? *not sure of the word*

(Long Beach's Story of Chess reprise is also really quite nifty ( ... )

I'm trying to go over Pittsburgh and Long Beach side by side, since they're very similar, but Long Beach is hardd to hear XD I think I'll get Pittsburgh down then listen through Long Beach for the differences.

I love Pittsburgh so much so far (I'm moving through a bit slowly). Freddie sounds so young! And after this and Sydney, the fiance and I now have it in our heads that Walter and Molokov must be these two. Seriously ( ... )

The last bunch of fic writers (mostly passed out of the fandom now) were pretty big on Walter and Molokov as a pair (both slash, and just interacting together). I can link you if you'd like?

I had a whole ramble about different Arbiters in different productions before I cut it out, I talk a lot If you want "firm and resolute", you should see 2008 RAH Marti Pellow. He looks (or tries to look) so badass during The Arbiter, it's hilarious (either that, or he looks really angry/grumpy). I think he was channeling a bit of US Tour Arbiter...

I really admire you for having the patience to actually go through and listen for the differences. I need to remember that there really ARE some worthwhile bits in the USA versions, and that they're not all bad even if the character development has been shot to hell... though that was Broadway more than the other productionsOh man that book looks excellent! I hope you can get your hands on a copy of it, I'd love to learn about how the original production was staged. There's a lot you can get from ( ... )

If there's some good ones perhaps though Walter/Molokov pairing makes me THROW UP IN MY MOUTH! Nothing wrong with man on man but those men.... Oh the ick. It makes me ill. XD Fiance and I got a lot of giggles out of a a fic where Anatoly and Freddie are drinking together post competition and Freddie is all confident cuz Florence is back at his place silence, I have no Freddie/Florence obsession though I have long since passed my fanfic reading days, not that I refuse to, it's just been so long... I think I'm afraid to put myself back in that place where I must dig through mounds of DO NOT WANT to find the good ones ( ... )

It's certainly a very stylized version of the characters, and I think they might have been too amused by the East v. West implications and subtext of the pair. And oh man, you've been on fanfiction.net, haven't you? you've probably read my stuff there then orz There are one or two good fics there, but the good stuff is over at AO3.

My participation in fandom is pretty much fanfic and fanfic only, so I've developed a crap filter >.< after a while you get used to skimming through stuff ( ... )

Well our favorite part of the story is Freddie. He's so not my current Mage: the Awakening character. As a reality TV star. Also Freddie with magic. It's uh... terrifying the most fun for me because I think I understand him the best out of anyone in the cast. I guess I feel like I'm a very passionate person and I respect him as a fellow person who, in blindly going after what he wants, he sorta ignores the other people in his life.

I will brave those waters at some point XD. Fanfic.net wryyyy oh man does the server still explode and die randomly for days at a time... oh the good old days. When I was in middle school DDD: Oh man fanfic.net you taught me so many things a middle schooler should not have known.... It'd be Fiance who's been over there though, I've only glanced over her shoulder once in awhile while she reads ( ... )

Freddie really got the short end of the stick... depending on what version you're going with, he's not necessarily that much of a jerk (London he's less jerky; Broadway , and Florence just ups and leaves him - for Anatoly, the incarnation of everything he's against! And then Act II... honestly, all the characters in Chess have so much potential :D

I admit that I first discovered The Pit when I was in middle school, too :/

I agree that Svetlana doesn't seem like a very effective pawn to manipulate Anatoly with (he just kinda ignores her...) I feel she's there more to manipulate Florence, and to turn public opinion against Anatoly (since Molokov's got a deal with Walter too, who works in TV...) She knows that Anatoly doesn't really care for her, but she's suppressing/denying her hurt/anger, and pretending she's only worried about the children, until Endgame, when it all comes out.

Tell your fiancée thanks from me!

Yeah... our thee-act is an excuse to set Florence and Freddie back up viably. Because Freddie is so damned cute, and honestly, it's just so sad to see him in London getting totally steamrolled and left to beg her to come back. Yeah I have to agree there! So much fun still to play with!

And wow yeah. Oh the beauty of youth. Terribly destroyed by bad sex fanfiction.

Ahh I never really thought about it that way! I like it! I'll have to think more on that. I found it so very Othello in the Pittsburgh to use the "Oh HI Florence! Here's Antoly's coat. HE left it IN HIS WIFE'S HOTEL ROOM. HOHOHO." Even if it's not true, and the coast was jsut a plant, it works QUITE well to upset Florence :D

Oh, I like it! Freddie and Florence really should get back together post-Chess... I feel that the relationship between her and Freddie might be stronger than the one with Anatoly. She and Freddie were together for how long? And then all of a sudden she leaves him. :/ I'm not sure how strong her relationship with Anatoly actually is, she couldn't have known him very well when she decided to get together with him ignore the biased commentary from someone who takes Svetlana's part in everything

Ah, well, the Broadway and US Tour Anatolys are completely different from the London. I can see that Anatoly actually going to Svetlana's room to talk to her and try and get her to forgive him, etc... but everyone -including Florence!- is weaker-willed compared to London. Therefore this Florence would actually believe the whole coat thing.
