HARRY POTTER.
IS TOMORROW.
Okay. So. Here's the problem: I pre-ordered my book at Barnes and Noble months and months ago. Then. I walked into a Borders two days ago (Tuesday, July 17), bought a bagel ($1.00 exactly -- great price for a huge bagel!), and received a free Borders Rewards card. I'd given the cashier lady my email address. Lalala, all is well. The next morning (Wednesday, July 18) I received a welcome email from Borders. Ah, how nice.
Then. This morning. Just now. 30 minutes ago. I received an email from Borders. It was about their Harry Potter party, where, I discovered, they would be handing out free DH posters to the first people in line who had pre-ordered the book. Frantically I called Barnes and Noble to see if they would be doing the same: Alas, no! The woman on the phone even had the audacity to sound annoyed! I called Borders to ask if it was too late to pre-order, but of course it was.
That is where I stand now ladies and gentlemen. I know that there are various small Waldenbooks stores around my area where they are also handing out free posters, but only to those who had pre-ordered. My best chances lie in these smaller stores -- hopefully, the line will not be as long, and I will not be out of luck. Barnes and Noble had free posters last year, so why not this year? Could it be that the woman on the phone was lying? Maybe it's to be kept a surprise? Do I risk it?
Woe.
