Vacation

This weekend, Doug and I went on a Mini-Vacation. We went down to Morro Bay with his Mom, stepdad and siblings. It was fun, and really pretty. I really enjoyed getting out and seeing a brand new place, esp. one on the ocean. Friday night we met at the hotel and rested from the drive down (about 3.5 hours, not too bad, but still...) and then went to dinner at a really fancy resturant. I got venison steak, which was really good, and orchid seed creme brulee, which is alot like vanilla, but with a very slight difference that was almost hard to detect, let alone describe. But it was good. Then saturday we wandered around on the waterfront and took a boat tour around the bay, which was neat and gimmicky, because you could go down into the boat and there were windows into the bay and the people up top feed the fish so that we could see them. The fish were smelt, and surprisingly pretty. Then we broke up, cause i wanted to go to a bead store i'd seen eralier. the place was tiny, but had some good deals. some really bad ones too, which made it an odd mixture. After we met up again we went to a state park with an interactive natural history museum and looked around. then we went to the Elfin Forrest, which was cool, cause it was an oak forrest on the dunes, so instead of growing over 50 feet high, the oaks only grow to 12 feet, but are perfectly proportioned. Its natural bonsai effect, and was cool. also, there were lizzards and a cute tiny bunny with little ears and a fluffy tail. Oh, and baby (or bonsai'ed) ground squirrls. :)
Adter the forrest we went back to the hotel and wandered around the town a bit, stumbled upon a farmers market, which was fun, and then we went to dinner at a nice resturant with delicious homemade onion rings and a very tasty viniger dressing. (can you guess food is important to my vacations?)
Sunday morning we packed up and drove to Hearst Castle, which was less than an hour up the coast. I hadn't been to the castle since i was five or so, and doug and his mom and siblings had never been, so it was really fun. I really enjoyed it, and tried to talk doug into giving me a swimming pool like the indoor one Hearst had. Really, i just want a pool with a diving platform like that one did... it doesn't even have to have 22k gold tiles and hand carved marble and alabaster everything, i just like the diving platform. :)
Anyway, after Hearst Castle, we went to Cambria and had lunch looking over the ocean (actually, all of our meals were overlooking the ocean, now that i think about it...) and then split up to head back home. I had alot of fun over the weekend, and i really wanna do it again. :)
