Fanart Project

Right now I'm working on some fanart. :) I'm not too happy with it, but it's a start, and I need to start being consistent when I draw. Thinking back in art classes they make you draw in studio for about 3 hours. I'm never able to just jump in and start drawing. I need that warm up time. My first drawing of the year is of Guilty Gear X Character: May. She's an air pirate who fights with a big anchor. ;)

So far I've worked about 3 1/2 hours on this. Sketching and inking. Ever since I lost access to my scanner I've had to rely on doing things the old school way. It's not so bad though, and it's teaching me patience. ^^ While I was coloring this I was thinking how I lack technique when it comes to coloring with markers. It's so hard! So far I've placed my base colors down, and will probably continue with the coloring tonight. She's supposed to be sitting on an ocean rock. With the weather being so nice lately, I say why not!

There's always room to improve. I know I've been not so happy with doing Anime-inspired stuff and it's gotten me into a rut. But if I don't draw, then I'll be completely unhappy. So I'm just doing this to stay sane. (If that makes sense?) Hopefully as I keep on drawing other things will inspire me and I will improve but the fact is... I need to try first. ^__^;

So I've put up a little inspiration and cleaned up my desk a bit:

The cork board is called my "inspiration board". Hopefully while I find things I like looking at I'll tack them on there. :)
