LIRR claimed that service was back to normal today - I was stupid enough to believe them.
All the trains were at least 45 mins late, so even though I took an earlier train with my brother so I could show him what lines to take and where to transfer to get to Queens I was really pressed for time.
What made the trip even worse was that my ex was on THE SAME TRAIN and at the SAME PLATFORM - what the hell?! I know he goes to Sarah Lawrence, so he was probably on his way to Penn to go back up to school or something...BUT NO, GO AWAY I DO NOT WANNA SEE YOU!
When the train FINALLY came I sat with my brother and I saw him coming down the aisle and pretended to be asleep so he didn't see me. He probably did, but at least he didn't stop and say hi super awkwardly.
Afterwards I tapped into the Speed Force and booked it downtown, making record time. By the time I made it to the escalator I was so out of breath I didn't notice I was in the same car as my Professor so the class I was rushing to make.
Oh irony!
His name is Craig Stone and he looks like Mr. Bishop from Blue Monday so in my mind he is the most precious thing ever. He's young and he gets kinda flustered and drops things and I just wanna go, "Bawwww, okay I'll write these articles for you. Just keep being so adorable."
The class is boring as hell though - it's a requirement, so I gotta just suck it up...but AUGH SO BORING. The thing that sucks about taking a hardcore journalism course and that it's SUPER STRICT AND SERIOUS. We always talk about war and politics and it's the same song and dance every single week. I'm much better about it now than I was when I took News, because at least now I KNOW it's super stuffy and I can just use the skills I gain in these stuffy classes towards my own articles.
What always gets me miffed is how whenever we have to bring in our stuff and they see my Column these Journalism guys roll their eyes like, "UGH! COMIC BOOKS!" or "UGH! VIDEO GAMES!" And I get how it's not high-end culture, and I get that it's considered "fluff" - but people still read it, so while I don't expect them to be supportive, I would rather they not be a jerk about it.
Oh well, what are you gonna do? Just gotta get through it and not let it get to me.
