AND THIS NEATO TUTORIAL

Awww yea custom nerd shirts for SDCC! Since I really dislike most of the women's shirts in the Bioware store (I don't like crew necks and their materials suck) I decided to make my own nerd couture.

The color's a little off on all of these pics (especially on the Garrus shirt), apparently I have no idea what I'm doing once I have a camera in my hands. Yay fixed with better pics and the wonders of photoshop.

Planning:

Starting out with simpler designs because this is my first time doing this. Eventually I'll try more complicated stuff.

Testing:

Lol AAU shirt, I would never wear you in public but at least you're good for something.

Painting:

The freezer paper method worked a lot better than I expected!! There was minimal bleeding that I had to go back in and clean up, but overall it was much easier to handle than using masking tape.

Pre-ironing closeups:

Even though the gold paint on the Garrus shirt is a liiiiittle gaudier than I would have liked, it came out of lot better than the white. The white paint was designed for lighter colored fabrics so it was thinner and bled more easily, I had to do 3 coats to get a nice solid white (vs the one coat for the gold).

I should really vary my fandom obsessions more...maybe some Avatar or Star Wars shirts next...

mass effect, art
