Some exciting news, some blegh art

At 12:09 AM, A Dance With Dragons was delivered to my Kindle.

Warmup doodle of Butters (short for Butterface, cuz of F:NV's face generator goddamn), my courier from Fallout: New Vegas. I picked it up when I was super bored at home in LA, but dropped it like it was hot for Assassin's Creed 2 (which I blew through in 4 days, hooray for being a complete bum at home). I really couldn't get into it that much, the whole game just seemed a little hollow. Like I was just futzing around the desert doing shit for people I didn't really care about, with no immediate overarching plot. I think I'm just spoiled by how ~*emotionally engaging*~ Mass Effect is. Anyway the point here is that I like female characters with mohawks, and asian faces are hard to draw.

Continuing my eternal quest to learn how to properly colorize monochrome stuff:

Ugh this pic. Don't you love it when you work on something for hours and hours and then realize that you like the old version better? So awesome and totally not frustrating at all. The zoomed out version looks okay I guess, but close up something funky's definitely going on with his face in the color version. I thiiiink it's his right (screen left) eye. I also rounded out his jaw according to the reference I was using, but my friend said it just made him look pudgy =( Aggghh why am I so OCD about this crap! I don't know why I keep torturing myself trying to learn how to do this method because it honestly takes me longer to do it than to just paint with colors right out of the gate.

HOWWW??? YOUR SECRETS, GIVE THEM TO ME
