Ratings/Warnings: General, really. Just a tiny innuendo punch line.

Summary: One-shot. It wouldn’t be weird, right? It would be fine. Nothing weird.

It wouldn’t be weird, right? It would be fine. Nothing weird.

So why did he feel so awkward about it?

His dad, who had taken on the doting parent image after his mother’s passing, wasn’t too happy with him spending a lengthy time alone at home. “It’s not you I don’t trust,” his father had said, “It’s everyone else.”

So he asked if Hope could stay with a friend for the week of his business trip. So . . . who better to call than your girlfriend, right? Right. He was fairly grown up now, and besides, they spent tons of nights together with everyone else during their rip-roaring adventure.

The phone rang for a minute or so - a minute that felt like an hour.

“Hello?”

Hope nearly dropped the phone, fumbling with it before returning an answer. “Yes, hello, Lightning?”

“Hope,” she addressed him from the other end of the phone. “Do you need something?”

He relaxed a bit. It was only Lightning, he reminded himself. Lightning who . . . loved him.

“Yeah, actually.” He cleared his throat. “My dad’s going to be away for a week or so, and he, as usual,” he rolled his eyes, “Doesn’t want me to be home alone. I was thinking, uh . . . I know it’s a little far, but, would you mind if I slept at your place for the week?”

He was first replied to with silence. Not . . . what he was expecting. Did she hear him? The line hadn’t gone dead or anything.

“Lightni-“

“Not until you’re eighteen.”

What?

AN:

- Do you get it? I hope so. My unofficial beta-ers (aka my friends I eat lunch with at school) all got it, so I hope it’s understandable. I’ve had this joke in my head for so long I don’t find it funny any more. But I hope you all do! \o/ Sorry this is somewhat drabble-y -- again, joke in head over weeks and weeks, it gets less and less funny.
