Chapter 4 Yuto laid on his desk with no energy at all. He barely got any sleep and when he did, which was like a few hours, that ended up being a nightmare.
Someone's arms slide around his neck from behind. "Yutooo, why didn't you pick up the phone yesterday?" an all familiar voice nagged him.
Yuto just gave a groan in response. He didn't feel like coming to school either but was obviously forced by his mom.
Hands held his head as Yuto reluctantly reaised it to see a concerned Chinen. "You have panda eyes!" he exclaimed. "Don't tell me that Okatomo bullied you to be like this!"
At the word, "bullied", Yuto's eyes widen.
Chinen took note of this. "I knew i-" Chinen started but was interrupted as a notebook hit his head.
"It's Okamoto, not Okatomo," Ryutaro corrected him while Chinen rubbed his head. "And don't jump to conclusions easily either."
"B-but..."
"Chii, I'm fine." Yuto forced a smile, not wanting to worry his friends. "Just a nightmare and Okamoto-kun didn't bully me at all." More like he's getting bullied, Yuto thought to himself. "He's actually very nice." Chinen tilted his head to the side as if knowing that something was up but dropped it as he went to his side, hugging him.
At that instant, surprisingly Keito walked in before the bell even rang. But Yuto noticed that Keito was holding onto his left arm. What made Yuto more perplexed was the fact Keito was walking towards his direction. Yuto wasn't sure in what to say. He thought that Keito had probably hated him by now after what happened the day before.
"Nakajima-kun," Keito greeted in a soft voice in front of him.
"Uhh... hey," Yuto replied back.
Then Keito placed a folded piece of paper on his desk before walking to his seat.
Yuto took the note without letting Chinen see and read, "Pop quiz today most likely. Study what I wrote below. -Okamoto."
Panic struck him as he smacked Chinen's hands away, scurrying to get his homework out and scanned over the questions he had done along with Keito's neatly written notes. Chinen finally left him alone and went to bother Ryutaro, probably fake crying over the fact that Yuto was ditching him for homework. Yuto did feel a bit guilty but he wanted to get a better score on this for the sake of having fun with his friends.
The bell rang but Yuto knew he still had a few more minutes until the tardy bell so he concentrated, running what he learned yesterday in his mind. "Pass up your homework to the font," the teacher ordered. "Pop quiz today."
Keito was right after all. Yuto felt nervous and when his name was called, he jolted. "Y-yes?"
The teacher was only calling roll. But he was called again to pass the papers out. "Okamoto-san, please help him."
Taking half, Yuto gave he other half to Keito. As they finished and went back to their seats, Yuto felt a light squeeze on his shoulder. Turning, he saw Keito with that small smile of his. "Good luck," Keito mouthed to him before working on the quiz.
Feeling a bit less nervous, Yuto turned over his paper and started working, putting in all his effort.

"How do you think you did?" Yamada asked, stuffing a riceball in his mouth.
"I don't know. But I did feel pretty good after it was over?" Yuto admitted as he picked up his chopsticks. His anxiousness had subsided. It took some time to think about how to do it but he was pretty sure he did okay this time.
"It was a piece of cake," Ryutaro said with a smug look, stabbing his cake.
"Stupid pun. And I don't really care," Chinen exclaimed happily as he leaned his head against Yuto's. "By the way, Yama-chan, don't you usually go to a club or something during lunch?"
Yuto looked over at Yamada, chewing his rice. That was true. It was very unusual for Yamada to eat with them unless for special occasions like birthdays.
"The tea- I didn't feel like going today," Yamada explained. "You don't want me here?"
"Of course we want you here!" Yuto nodded furiously, fearing that Yamada might be offended. Okay, maybe not fear. Yamada was joking but he just played along.
"What about tea?" Ryutaro asked.
Yamada's sentence was cut off after all. "I wanted some," was Yamada's answer.
"I think you should be drinking milk instead," Ryutaro muttered.
"What did you say?!" Yamada went over to Ryutaro.
Yuto and Chinen started to laugh when Yamada had him in a headlock and gave him a noogie.
"Yama-chan, I have some green tea. Want some?" Yuto offered his bottle.
Yamada's eyes flickered something unreadable before taking it. "Thanks Yuto-kun." He unscrewed the cap and took a waterfall.
"I want some, too!" Chinen pouted as he stole some of Yuto's lunch. Yamada gave it to the little boy and Chinen drank it straight from the bottle. Yuto smiled at Chinen's cuteness. He wouldn't mind if Chinen drank it all.
It wasn't until Yamada whispered something that made Chinen started to cough, his face turning red.
"Chii? Are you okay? You shouldn't drink too fast." Yuto got worried as he wrapped an arm around Chinen's shoulder and patted his chest.
"Y-yeah..." Chinen lowered his head.
"Anyways, how was tutoring?" Ryutaro questioned curiously.
Yuto gave a thumbs up. That reminded him. He still had to thank Keito for yesterday and earlier. Yuto looked over his shoulder to see Keito eating alone. He bounced over to Keito without telling his best friends. "Hi Okamoto-kun. Thank you so much for yesterday and the notes earlier," he told the Engrish boy. Yes, now he dubbed him as the Engrish boy.
Keito stopped chewing and swallowed. "It was nothing."
"It was certainly something to me!" Yuto exclaimed. When he saw that Keito nodded, he smiled. Then something crossed his mind. Now that he thought about it, he never really saw Keito hanging out with anyone else. He was always quiet, eating or reading a book. "Ah, I want you to meet my best friends!" In a way, Yuto wanted to show off his awesome tutor and in the process, have Keito be friends with his friends. That would make him really happy.
"Ehh?" Keito looked down as if he was pondering about it before looking over. After a little while of staring, he spoke. "Umm... I don't think your friends like me..." Keito trailed off.
Yuto blinked in confusion. What had made Keito say that in the first place? He spun around to see his three best friends... looking not so friendly. Chinen was pouting like a little kid not getting what he wanted, Ryutaro was obviously glaring, probably the fact that Keito was his "rival", and Yamada was sighing, staring blindly off somewhere else.
"They're usually very friendly. Umm... I guess today isn't one of their best days?" Yuto tried making something up, laughing awkwardly.
Someone's arms suddenly snaked around his waist and a head was pressed against his back. "Yuto." Chinen didn't sound very happy either. Yuto wasn't sure what was the cause of the mood change. Why was everyone having weird moods today? He was exaggerating but seriously.
"What is it, Chii?" Yuto placed his hand on Chinen's small ones.
Chinen didn't seem to say anything after. Instead, he was pulling Yuto back.
"Nakajima-kun, you should go back and eat with Chinen-kun," Keito told him as he closed his lunchbox with a lid.
"Ehh? You already know his name?" Yuto asked, surprised as Chinen gave him a squeeze.
Keito nodded. "I think Chinen-kun is getting impatient."
The hug grew tighter on him as Keito made that comment. "Yuto," Chinen repeated again in a wavering voice. It really sounded as if Chinen was going to cry at any moment so he waved to Keito before going back with Chinen still clinging onto him.
"Chii?" When he got no answer, Yuto got worried. He looked to his two friends for help. Ryutaro was rolling his eyes, looking annoyed while Yamada had a look of pity directed towards them.
Yuto swerved around to pat Chinen's head, hugging him back because that was all he could do. Chinen obviously didn't want to tell him. Maybe when he was ready...?
