Yamada Ryosuke slid into the seat, tapping his fingers against the table and looking out the window, watching the pedestrians walk by.

He glanced at his watch and as he raised up his eyes, he saw Ryutaro plopping himself down across from him. A sigh of relief washed over him. "Hey, Ryutaro. What's up?"

"Nothing much," another voice replied instead of Ryutaro's. Daiki sat next to Ryutaro, wrapping an arm around the latter's shoulders.

"Arioka-kun? What are you doing here?" Yamada asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I invited him," Ryutaro answered, snuggling in Daiki's arms.

Yamada pursed his lips. "So... what did you want to tell me? You sounded kinda urgent on the phone."

"I did?" Ryutaro blinked in confusion. "I just wanted to hang out with you," he simply said. "We haven't done that for quite a while now..."

"Then what's with the 'I want to talk,' in that rushed voice? Following that, you just hung up so I got a bit worried," inquired Yamada.

"Ryu-chan's batteries were about to die so he had to talk really fast," Daiki answered for the younger boy.

Yamada made a discontent sound. "So I came all the way here for nothing?"

Ryutaro flinched slightly. "Yama-chan... can't you stop and take a break for once?" Ryutaro tilted his head to the side with a frown.

Yamada sighed, not liking the tone that Ryutaro was using. "I need to keep up those A's so that means I have to study. Sorry, I should really go. Bye, Arioka-kun and Ryutaro." He turned his back on them, waving and left through the door.

It was Ryutaro's turn to sigh as his expression grew sad. "Sorry, Dai-chan. Yama-chan didn't really mean the words he said."

Daiki smiled. "I know."

"I'm just worried," Ryutaro commented, hugging Daiki tighter.

Daiki merely gave an affectionate ruffle. "Do you know what Yamada-kun needs?"

Ryutaro shook his head.

"A boyfriend."

-----------------------------------------

Yamada's eyes grew heavy as he tried comprehending the deeper meaning in the book. Sure the reading wasn't due until two more weeks but if he started earlier, he could have more time for studying. It wasn't like his parents or anyone in his family pushed him to do this, but it was more like... doing this for himself.

As he yawned and stretched his arms in the air, the cellphone vibrated for a few seconds. Yamada reached for the cellphone and answered with a 'Hello'. Only he got no response. He looked at the screen and found out that he got a text message instead of a phone call.

"I must be too tired..." he muttered under his breath as he read the text though it was unusual getting one from Daiki nonetheless.

EMERGENCY, COME TO THE CAFE ASAP!!! -ARIOKA

A flash of panic went through his body as he dialed Daiki's number. It went straight to Daiki's voicemail so he quickly grabbed his jacket and keys, rushing out the door.

Did something happen to Ryutaro? But then why not a hospital? What could be this emergency? Yamada tried calming himself down by thinking of the possibilities that weren't out of this world.

As Yamada stepped inside the cafe, he didn't see anything out of the ordinary, just regular customers having drinks and pastries. He felt his cell shaking inside his pocket, flipping it open.

GO TO TABLE #4!!! AND SIT THERE NO MATTER WHAT!!! -ARIOKA

For some reason, Yamada had a bad feeling about this whole situation. This was just getting weirder and weirder. He walked to the table and saw an older guy with brown hair and sunglasses, sipping a smoothie through a straw. He wore a chain necklace with a ring on his right hand along with a plain white T-shirt and jeans.

Yamada's heart did a little flip and was a little taken back with the sight. This guy is... good-loo-

The guy's head turned, cocking his head to the side while pressing his lips together.

Yamada couldn't help but stay still at that spot. It was like his body wasn't working anymore.

"Whatcha looking at?" The guy's voice was pretty deep, his eyebrows furrowed.

"S-sorry..." Yamada stammered, looking down. He scurried away and went through the whole cafe, looking for Daiki and possibly Ryutaro.

Arioka-kun might just be late... He did say this table... so maybe when that guy leaves... Yamada found himself at the same place that he started, with that really good looking guy. He noticed that the guy had finished half the cup already. He must've been thirsty... And...

Something clattered onto the ground, breaking his daze. He realized that his cellphone wasn't in his hands anymore. Since when did he become clumsy?

"Here, you dropped your cellphone."

Yamada noticed that the guy in front of him had taken off his sunglasses and had nice hands. He shook his head. What the hell is wrong with me? I swear I didn't think his brown eyes are nice.

"Thanks," was all Yamada said as he took the cellphone out of the latter's hands. He took a look on the screen once again. Did Daiki make a mistake? Table number 4 was already taken but it did say no matter what... Ugh... where are you, Arioka-kun???

"Arioka-kun?"

Yamada became startled. "Did I say that out loud?" If I did, I'll be embarrassed...

The stranger nodded.

Yamada's cheek grew warmer. He opened his mouth to apologize when the other beat him to it.

"Arioka-kun... as in Arioka Daiki?" the brown-haired boy asked, stirring his drink.

The little boy blinked. How did he know? "Yeah..."

"I'm Takaki Yuya, Arioka's friend," he introduced, gesturing for Yamada to sit.

"Yamada Ryosuke..." Yamada complied, thinking this was just getting weirder by the moment.

"So..." Takaki began, finishing his refreshment. "How did you and Arioka-kun meet?"

Yamada looked through the menu. "Oh... through my friend. You?"

"Went to the same middle school. I'm one year older than him," Takaki answered and then called for the waiter.

"Oh..." Yamada kind of felt awkward, talking to Takaki. The only connection was that he was Daiki's friend and nothing else. If you're gonna introduce a friend, then you should've come...

"What would you two like?" the waiter asked with a smile.

"Strawberry smoothie," Yamada ordered, pointing to the picture of the enlarged pinkness. He heard a soft chuckle coming from Takaki. What was wrong with strawberry?

The waiter jotted the order down. "And you?"

"Just water please."

"Okay I'll have them in a minute. Thank you for ordering." And he left. .

"So... strawberry?" Takaki asked, his hands folded on the table.

"What about them? Don't tell me you think that's girly." Yamada heard a 'pfft' in response. "So you do think that way."

"I didn't say that," Takaki countered with a straight face only to start chuckling after a few seconds.

Where in the world was Arioka-kun? I have better things to do... like study than be with this jerk... Screw the fact that he's good looking. No one messes with my strawberries...

As if reading a part of the younger boy's mind, Takaki showed him his own cellphone.

Yamada's mouth dropped open. It was the same exact text that Daiki had sent him.

Takaki shut his phone. "Didn't mean to see what was on your cellphone but I didn't think it was just a mere coincidence that we got the same message."

"I tried calling him but it led to his voicemail," Yamada said. "He probably turned off the phone after he sent the text?"

Takaki shrugged. "So what things do you like to do? Like hobbies."

"Why are you even asking these questions?" Yamada inquired with an irritated tone. It was like he was a witness at a crime scene and he had to answer all the questions given to him.

Takaki leaned back against the seat, his arms rested at the side. "Haven't you figured out what this is?"

"Ehhh? What do you mean?"

The waiter finally came with the drinks, placing them on the table along with the bill.

They both gave their thanks and Yamada started to drink the strawberry goodness.

"It's a date."
