Went to Gameworks at the mall today...
First off, I got an all-day card for $10... My first, and main, stop for the day was Tekken 5. Kevin, Charles and I played a few rounds before more kids showed up, a couple we knew from school. One had a really good Hwoarang card (236 wins, 28 losses), and he pwned all of us. One guy came close to beating him as King, and I almost beat him as Hwoarang. When Danny (Hwoarang) had about 20 wins, some guy in a wheelchair, with arms that ended at the elbows, and no legs to speak of, passed by and said, "20 wins? I gotta play you." His friend wheeled him over to the arcade cabinet, and put the game card in, and Nubs used his teeth to put his character card in the slot. He had an Asuka with about a 45% win to loss ratio. He put one of his stumps on the joystick and the other over the buttons, and sure enough, he crushed Danny on his first attempt. For about an hour, 5 of us kept switching out, trying to beat Nubs, but none of us could. I came close as Lee, but still lost every time. Eventually, when Nubs had won 20 rounds and brought his win percentage up to 50%, Kevin picked Christie and button mashed his way to victory. Nubs crushed him in the next round, then got another 15 win streak, before Kevin beat him again. He got another 5 win streak, before Charles decided to try using Asuka, and he too button mashed for the win. After that, Nubs had to leave, and he said Gameworks was the best arcade he'd been to in Arizona (He's from Chicago). He hadn't tried the miniature golf place, though, so I recommended that to him. He said as long as it had Tekken 5, Marvel Vs. Capcom, and Initial D, he'd be happy with it. Then, he left, and all of us were left to try to take out Danny again. I played some DDR and Guitar Freaks, and went to get some pizza. Apparently, Michelle works at the mall, so we ran into her, and hung out at the candy store for a little while. Then we got our pizza (I ordered it Joel style. "What's your name?" "Jamunabadumadoo?" "A real name." "Bob the blue balloon!" At 9:00, Gameworks closed, so Michelle and the three of us hung out at the bookstore for a while before we had to leave. It was a fun day.
The moral: Looks can be deceiving. AKA, Nubs beat the shit out of us.
