Goodbye Subway!! At least, after tomorrow I can say that :D. As I said, I was continuing to look for a job since I hated Subway so much. I walked around and put in two applications two days ago, one at a convenience store and one at the bowling alley. Now, I've loved this bowling alley since I was a little kid. Some of my earliest memories are of birthday parties there. Granted, it's changed locations since then but it still looks the same inside. I did nothing yesterday since it was raining, so today I was going to call both places and ask if anyone had looked at my application. My first call was to the bowling alley and the owner asked me if I could go in for an interview today. So I quickly got dressed and walked there (unfortunately I misjudged how humid it was so I was drenched with sweat by the time I got there, but not much I could do about that).
The manager is a really nice woman named Crystal (I'm guessing on the spelling, there are so many different ways to spell that name it's absurd). She sat down and talked to me for a while, asking me stuff like if I wanted full time and if I had any other obligations and what kind of a person I was. She had mentioned that my applying there was great timing since a bunch of people just left (not all voluntarily) and a bunch of different positions were open from part time to management. So I told her about how my degree means that I know people really well and that a lot of my classes were how people interact with one another etc. I also told her how I was president of Anime Club for 2 years and helped bring the club up from being one of the least liked to one of the most active groups on campus (Yay!), she seemed impressed with that one. When I was finished she told me about the place and what she thought of me. She went on about how she thought I was very mature and that she could see me and her getting along very well. Then she dropped the bombshell and told me that she thought I had the potential to become, and I quote, her "right hand girl." So she wants me to work a full 8 hour day tomorrow, basically following her around, and for me to tell her at the end of the day if it seems like something I want to do or not. Once I get into the swing of things and know how everything works I think I'm going to be brought on full time, complete with a salary, benefits and health insurance! I'll be just fine until that happens since I'm starting at $9 an hour!!! I was a bit nervous when she brought up wages. On the application I put down $7 as what I'd like to get paid, I figured it's a decent number, not too high and not too low. She brought it up and I was worried she thought it was too high (this was before she told me about the management thing) so I told her I wasn't too picky about it. When she told me she was going to start me at $9 I was floored :D Even more so when she said that no one has ever had to ask her for a raise since she doesn't hesitate to up someone's pay if she thinks they're working hard and deserve it.
lol I got a call from Subway while typing this. I'm waiting to tell them until I see what work's like tomorrow so I just ignored the call :P
So, in the end, I'M WORKING AT A FUCKING BOWLING ALLEY! hehehehehe. I think this has the potential to become the best job I have ever had.
