An Update on Dop Dop That I Totally Forgot To Post the Other Day...
I forgot to mention that Doppler had his second check-up on Monday 3rd August. We were seen by our usual vet, Rose, who knows her stuff on small furries.
I warned her that he was a bit of a jerk, but once again he was good as gold! I'm so proud of him! She commented on how sweet he was and even picked him up at one point to move him from my shoulder to my chest so she could have a look at the right side of his face, where his abscess had been. He didn't even flinch!
She said that if we hadn't told her and it hadn't been in the medical records that he'd had an abscess, she'd never have known. The swelling has gone down completely and even the scab itself has disappeared. She gave us some more antibiotics just in case, as sometimes the infection can encapsulate under the skin, but he's looking pretty good!
He's loving his medication though. We're calling him the Baytril Junkie. The Baytril itself is tasteless, but we give it to him on a bit of chocolate cereal and he snatches it so hard. He's nearly taken my finger off on a few occasions. But that's only a good thing - the worst thing in the world is trying to medicate a pet who hates taking their medication.
So, yeah, all is well on Planet Doppler! He's had an abscess in that very spot before so it's possible that he's even prone to them, so I'll be keeping a close eye on him in future.
