My Computer Is Being a Dick Again. Surprise Surprise.

Yet another thing that I forgot to tell you all!

I have a PC now, have had it for a while, in fact. My Dad cobbled it together out of parts we had sitting around. It's good for writing - I have Scrivener on it - and it's good for games like Spore, Minecraft and stuff.

There is one thing, though. It has a legit copy of Windows Vista that we actually purchased ourselves, but it was a single use copy.

My Dad thought it would be good to use again for some reason, despite having previously registered the product key to hos old PC. Um, no Dad, that's not how single use software works.

Basically, I'm gonna be getting locked out of the PC tomorrow because I can't activate Windows on a used product key. I've been meaning to brig the tower down to our local computer shop to have them put Windows 7 on it (they don't sell individual copies, they're licensed to install it from their own copy or something like that) but I kinda forgot all about it. Oops.

So I'll be without a PC for a good few weeks. Next Friday, which is the day I get paid every week, I'm taking the new girls to get checked over by the vet, so the Friday after that I'll get it done.

I'll still be able to blog and write on my Kindle in the meantime; it's one of the best investments I've ever made. I bought it in anticipation of my laptop blowing up last autumn - lo and behold, my laptop did blow up as predicted but I had my trusty Kindle and Bluetooth keyboard to get me through NaNo.

So this isn't another farewell from me. It's... well I dunno. Just another entry I suppose!

Going back to the subject of the new girls, I've named them at last! The larger white one is Garnet, the smaller white one is Amethyst, and the bareback hooded is Pearl. I suspect Amethyst might have some respiratory stuff going on, though, because her breathing sounds a little creaky and she has a lot of porphyrin (red stuff, not blood but mucous - associated with illness and stress in rats) around her right eye. I'm hoping that maybe it's just down to the change in her environment, sometimes that can make rats a bit sniffy.

I've had a nice day off, today! It's been a lot cooler and I've just dicked about on YouTube and Minecraft while the rodents have been running rampant on my bed. They've brought stained glass in to the console version of the game, so you bet I've been making rainbows everywhere!

EDIT: Broken cut :X

animals: rats, woes: computer woes
