Kelza Uses Her Wiles to Procure A Free Double Mattress and It's All Dreadfully Exciting

I was actually working on an entry during the week but it seems to have been eaten somehow. I don't think I actually finished it off and it got deleted when I shut my laptop down or something. Oops! Also, I've only just noticed that LiveJournal has lovingly stuck adverts inbetween every single one of my entries... Not cool, LJ. Seriously not cool.

Anyway, I've been in a good mood for the past five days or so! Being with Jason has cheered me right up and now, even though he's back at his, I still feel good. So I'm going to hold on to this feeling over the weekend. Also, I'm down to 12st 11lbs (YAY) and my final paycheck from Next was a lot bigger than I expected. I was expecting like £50 because I only did a short week, but I actually got £112. Not bad, eh? It must have been a sale period bonus or something. But it means I have a bit to tide me over until my first JSA payment... which incidentally I have yet to sort out.

So, since my last entry I have played a lot of Minecraft, typed a fair bit of my novel up, spent a lot of time with Jason and procured him a free double mattress! Sian revealed when I was at hers last Friday that she was getting a new one on Monday, and immediately I realised that I had a golden opportunity here. Since Jason gave his mattress to his Mum (prior to her stroke she was on the couch and now needs a proper bed more than ever) he's been sleeping on the floor, because his lovely generous brothers have taken up the two couches. Jason shows all the symptoms - minus the cardiac issues - relating to Marfan syndrome, so obviously sleeping on the floor with all his joint troubles wasn't ideal. It was starting to do him in.

I asked Sian what she was going to do with the old one (a perfectly good mattress, incidentally), in case she already had family who wanted it or something, but she said she was just going to contact Bulky Rubbish to come and remove it. So I asked if we could have it. And she said yes! Thank you, Sian!

The mattress was as good as ours... but then came the issue of moving it. My Dad told me the next morning that our car was too small. I couldn't think of anyone else so I put up a desperate message on Facebook (eeeew, I know) asking if anybody had a mate with a van who would be willing to help. Nobody came forward.

I told Jason to ask Alan and Caroline, some good friends of his family, since they have a huge car. Miraculously, they agreed. We arranged to sort it out at half eleven on Tuesday, so on the day I got the bus up so I could go with Caroline and navigate for her...

Half eleven came and went, she didn't show up. We phoned her on her mobile and got no reply. Then we tried her house phone. Time was running out; Sian would have to go to work soon and then there'd be nobody to answer the door to us.

She answered. And she didn't have the car. Alan had taken it so he could go to the hospital, so we had to put it off until Wednesday instead. I was frustrated as Caroline hadn't told us and didn't seem like she was going to, and Sian's dad and stepmum were starting to have a go at her about the mattress in their spare room. Also, it was a bit shocking that Caroline had let him drive himself to the hospital, considering he was going in regarding the poorly-healing skin grafts he'd had done on his feet only a fortnight or so ago. But being annoyed wasn't going to help. We could only wait another day and hope she actually helped us this time.

Thankfully, she did. We got to Sian's, squeezed the mattress in, had to put Jason on top of it for lack of seats, and now it's in his room and apparently very comfortable indeed! He'll have adequate support for his body, somewhere comfortable to sit while he's on the PS3, and we'll have plenty of room when I sleep over! Huzzah! Also, it was ridiculous that his sleeping situation was worse than his freeloader brothers'. They're always around, eating all the food, doing minimal chores, and expect Jason to sleep on the floor with the condition he has? Yeah, not on.

But enough of that. I have the whole weekend to myself now and I don't know what the hell to do with it! Maybe I'll go for a walk and swimming on Sunday. I could do with tidying the house a bit too, especially the downstairs where a lot of my stuff is currently residing. I could do a couple of pieces for Holly's latest Media project too; I'm providing yet more artwork for a film of hers and it's looking to be an exciting venture, though I don't think I can reveal any of the details on here. I'm sworn to secrecy. Writing, too - my novel, obviously, needs attention - both the handwritten first draft and the typed up version for the CreateSpace offer, plus some illustrations and the cover.

I've got so much stuff that I could be doing; it's amazing that I find time to be bored.

Oh my god! One last thing I forgot to mention... CARAVAN ON MONDAY, OH MY GOD. I can't believe that it's only a couple of days away that I'll be seeing them! My camera's all set, I have plenty of space on my SD card and a fresh set of batteries should I need them (Duracell Power Plus; they last FOREVER in cameras)... I just need to ensure I don't get killed by ninjas in the meantime and that I figure out an appropriate travel route. From St Helens and from Earlestown it's about the same price, so I dunno. We were going to go from Earlestown but maybe we should do St Helens instead. It'll be an adventure!

Yeah, plus it means Jason doesn't have to spend as much, and hopefully we can ask Lee and Glen to give us some space as well so his mum gets a bit of peace and quiet. I like this plan. Now I just need to top up my phone and let him know...
