The year is 1911 and Teru pulled his jacket tighter around himself hoping it would help against the cold wind. The dark clouds hanging above London left no doubt that it would rain soon.
Glancing at the clouds Teru hurried his steps without really knowing where he was heading.
It was only yesterday that he got kicked out of his job, but already he needed a new job as fast as possible. Having no money at all didn't give much opportunities for having a day off. He would really need money for food and for the rent of his room.
As the first rain drops hit his silvery blond hair Teru quickly hid under the stone gateway of the closest building. Hoping no one would mind him staying there for a moment he watched as the rain became heavier..
Loud cheering could be heard from the inside and the wood door opened and a black haired man peeked out "Hey you! You wanna come in instead of standing there?". His smile was charming and he looked at the silver blonde through the heavy rain. This young man, was Gackt, the owner of the inn. Known for his looks and love for being near human beings. As the wind blew his way, he could feel a nice smell. The smell of human, this one, better then the others he had in a few years. He smirked in his head and thought that this will be one good meal
Teru jumped at the sudden voice coming from behind him. As he turned around he found himself facing the owner of the Inn. He hadn't even realised that he had come this far from his home to look for a job. Teru had heard of the gorgeous inn keeper of course, but had only seen him a few times as he had passed by.
Not hesitating a second Teru nodded smiling, more than happy to take the invitation to get out of the rain.
Gackt opened the door more "I'm sorry I scared you" he smiled a wonderful smile. His hand was on the handle of the door and it got slightly wet "Hurry up, you will get soaked". The truth is that he only wanted to get to know the other male and well, have a nice evening meal. His blue eyes were fixed on the silver blonde and almost piercing through him
Teru quickly stepped inside, something in the voice of the Inn keeper making it impossible to even think of doing something else.
Once inside, Teru finally remembered he that really didn't have any money to order something. Who would want customers that couldn't bring any money in?
"I'm sorry sir" he turned to speak at the owner. "I don't think I have any money. ...but... but if you need any help I'd be happy to work here. I'm very hardworking." he assured with a little bow feeling nervous under the piercing stare of the dark eyes.
Gackt closed the door behind him and looked at the fragile boy "Well, I do need a washer, can you do that?" the owner smiled "Of course I'll pay you, or, if you want to, I can pay with food and somewhere to sleep, and a smaller amount of money" he walked through the table to stand at his usual place behind the bar made of solid, dark oak. The dark haired poured some cognac up in a glass and waved for the blonde to get over to the bar.
Teru walked to the bar counter feeling relieved now. At least he didn't have to go back to the rain he hateed and the offering for a job sounded really good.
"Yes. That would be great. I'll be a good washer I promise." he said eager to get such an easy job and be able to get money. He had tried dozens of different works and washing dishes really sounded easy compared to some jobs he had had. And even if this was for this night only, it would help him trough the next day.
"Maybe...if it is okay...then maybe I can stay here for the night and get paid less. My apartment is quite far away and then I can help you here as long as you need me" he offered thinking it would be more convenient to stay at the inn till morning. Now 'apartment' really was an exaggerated term for the little room he had rented, but Teru didn't want Gackt to think he was like some homeless beggar from the streets.
The black haired laughed "You sure sound eager. Here take this it will warm you up" he gave the half full glass of cognac to the frozen man. "I can show you to your room later" his voice was smooth and somehow seducive. He looked at the other customers with a big smile and his pale cheeks was also smooth in the light of the candles that hanged in the chandelie, slightly reflecting in his hair
Teru's eyes widened as he took the glass from the dark haired man. He really hadn't expected to be treated so kindly.
"Thank you" he said trying to appear well mannered around the inn keeper. He took one sip of the cognac and closed his eye briefly to savour the nice and warm feeling it gave him. After spending all day outside in the cold wind he was really happy to get to be inside now.
After emptying his glass and ignoring the slightly blurry feeling it gave him Teru looked up at Gackt once more.
"Ok. Show me what I have to do" he said looking determined.
"Come with me" the black haired smiled and leaved a beer to one of the customers as he made his way to a thin door and opened it for the shorter man. The door revealed a small room with a fireplace with a pot over it, a sink which there already were dishes stapling up, a woman doing the food and rushing around, and a small bed
Teru followed the owner to the back room, which turned out to be the kitchen. He nodded at the woman already working there and then turned to Gackt again, "Should I start right away? There seems to be a lot to do."
Somehow the presence of the inn keeper was making him nervous. It was hard to keep his eyes off of the dark haired man, but at the same time he got the somehow creepy feeling and hoped that he would be left alone to do the dishes.
Gackt was near to take the other right away but he had to restrain himself. He couldn't bite the blonde infront of the customers, he would get in prison, and that's one thing he wouldn't like. "Yes, that would be good, Ask me or Clarie if you have any problems" he nodded in the elder woman's direction. After that he walked back to the bar, and the customers waiting there
Totally oblivious to the danger Teru watched the inn keeper walk back to the bar to serve customers and then started his work. He washed the dishes carefully and placed them on the shelves in neat piles. Washing dishes was a simple job and he didn't need help from the woman called Claire nor from Gackt.
A few hours later it was closing time and Gackt got back with the last plates "When you're done come tell me, I'll be in the bar". After saying that he walked out to the dinning room and locked up the front door and blew out the candles. The only light was now from the fire place by one of the walls. The dark-haired sat down on a chair in front of the fire place and took a sip of his cognac. It warmed him just a little, even though it didn't last long. He was always cold, not that way that he was freezing, but he just had... a low body temperature. And now, Gackt was hungry, craving for blood, for the blonde's sweet blood
"Yes sir" Teru replied and started washing the last plates. Finally he rinsed the final plate and set it on the pile on top of the other plates. He dried his hands and then headed to the bar.
He felt good thinking about the food and the place to sleep the owner had promised him for his job. If he was lucky perhaps he would even earn enough money to get him through tomorrow.
The bar was dim as Teru entered and he had to look carefully before he noticed the dark haired man waiting on one of the chairs.
"I'm now finished, sir" he informed as he walked closer.
Gackt looked up at the other "Come and sit down for awhile, I have a few questions for you". His eyes were no longer blue, but purple and his voice was deeper and softer. He really was starving and infront of him was the lamb. A lamb that would never more meet the world as a human
Teru wondered what questions there might be, he had made sure to be very careful and hadn't break anything. He had worked all evening without stopping in hopes of making a good impression, but now he was afraid he had done something wrong after all.
Despite his fears he sat on the chair pointed to him and looked at the inn keeper. In the dancing light of the fire place his human eyes couldn't tell the change in Gackt's eyes.
"yes?"
While Gackt was working he realized that he didn't know the blonde's name, and that would be useful to know. He also wondered if he had any family "First quiestion.. What's your name?" He paused for a moment "Second, Do you have any close relatives?" If his victim had any family it would get troublesome. In worst case he would have to burn the place down and run of with the boy
Teru felt relieved it was only his name the owner was asking. And though he found the second question a little bit irrelevant maybe, he decided it was best to answer.
"I'm sorry I forgot to introduce myself" he said blushing a little bit at his own silliness. "I'm Teru".
Before answering the second one he hesitated a little. Memories of his family weren't so good, even though his story was not an uncommon one among the poor people in London.
"My family is very big....and we were poor" he looked up at Gackt to see his reaction and then continued. "And so... they didn't have money to keep me anymore...then when I turner fourteen they thought I was old enough to look after myself and kicked me out" he paused to think of his life for a moment. It wasn't really so horrible and in a way he could understand the decision of his parents.
"After that I've been on my own...I never went back to see how they are..." he trailed off and ended his story.
Inside his head he was smirking, but this he didn't show to the boy, Teru, to him, Gack was smiling friendly. "Teru is such a pretty name" he took a deep breath, even though he didn't need to "So you have no one who would miss you?". Gackt hoped that he wasn't to obvious about what he wanted to do with this boy. Teru's fresh blood was something very special
"Thank you" Teru smiled at the compliment about his name. He had never thought there was anything special in his name, it was short and not very uncommon, but of course it was nice to hear someone liked it.
The question about no one missing him made him serious though. Without noticing it he fell deep in his thoughts with his expression growing sadder the more he thought about it.
He knew many young people living just like him, without parents and security, just trying to make it through a day. But would any of them notice if he was gone? Or the people who lived in the same apartment building with him, did they even know he was living there? His parents hadn't seen him in years, so there was little chance that they would suddenly miss him now. Strange how he never really thought about it until now.
"No...I guess no one would miss me" he was forced to admit.
"Oh, so here's the deal. I'm opening a new inn in Boston. Would you like to join me?" Gackt had planned for a long time to move somewhere were no one knew him, it was time to move on now. And America would be a great new start. "I can't bring Claire, she's too old" Also he wanted to know if there was anyone like him over there, and Teru would be a great person to join him, especially if he became like the black haired. Gackt was still smiling.
Teru stared the inn keeper in shock. This was something totally unexpected. Would it really be possible? For him, to get a real job, something that would last longer than a few days. It sounded wonderful. There was not much he would miss in London, and anything that would change his life even a little better was welcomed of course. Could it be true? Even if he would have to wash dishes for the rest of his life it meant he had a job and he would get paid.
"Please, sir, you must be kidding. Don't say things that are not true." Teru couldn't believe the dark haired man really wanted him to follow him to Boston.
"I never lie" and that was true. He just, kept the secrets hidden. "Of course you will help with the dinner aswell". Gackt could hear his stomach rumbling and he looked at Teru with hungry eyes "Can you come a little closer?" his voice was smooth and demanding and he stared right at Teru
Teru nodded "Yes, of course, I'll help as much as I can. ....that's if you're sure you really want me to go with you" he still couldn't believe something this good was happening to him. Despite living in the streets for years and seeing the horrors the life could bring Teru had still managed not to loose his belief in people. Perhaps it was naive and dangerous to trust in people, but Teru wanted to believe that there was something good in everyone.
He couldn't see why Gackt wanted him to move any closer though, they could hear each other perfectly well, and he was not sitting far from Gackt's chair anyway. But in order, not to annoy the inn keeper from the beginning Teru moved his chair a few inches closer to Gackt's.
Gackt leaned forward to meet the other and he was just a few centimeters away. His purple eyes pierced trough the other with demand. "Look at me Teru" also his voice was demanding, there was nothing his victim could do to escape now. Gackt felt the poison lingering up in his mouth.
Teru stayed on his chair mesmerized by the purple eyes and the commanding voice. There was nothing he could do to escape the moment now, not that he even wanted to. Somehow he was sensing the danger, but there was no way to break the spell or resist the gorgeous man in front of him.
Gackt laid his cold hand on Teru's warm neck and moved it back to the back of the head to get all hair away. In the same movement he put his other hand on the others waist and pulled Teru closer. The dark haired leaned his head closer to the others neck and he whispered "All those things you've heard about vampires are true, I am one of them and soon, so are you" he opened his mouth more and pressed his lips against that soft skin. Soon his fangs would pierce trough the smooth skin.
A shock caused by Gackt's words and actions were enough to pull Teru back to reality. The panic shot through him and he tried to struggle away from the hold of strong hands on his neck. It was impossible though to free him self. Gackt was many times stronger than him. The words about vampires made little sense to Teru in his panicked mind. He had heard some stories of course, but who would believe such nonsense. Weren't they just stories to scare the kids and amuse the older ones?
Still struggling to get away Teru watched in horror as the dark hared man leaned even closer.
"Relax, it will just hurt for a little moment" Gackt said in a calm voice right before his sharp fangs pierced through the soft skin of Teru's neck. The warm red liquid quickly filled his mouth. And he drank it. He wouldn't kill the boy, he needed a mate on his trip. And Clarie, he thought, was a perfect first meal for this new little vampire. Still he needed controll over this one. So slowly he loosened his bite and hands and licked up the remaining droplets on the white skin. After that, he sat up and wiped his mouth, with his eyes focused on Teru.
Teru sank on the floor panting and hardly conscious. He had lost a huge amount of blood and it made his head spin. The pain on his neck wasn't making it any easier either. Too much in pain and too tired to move he stayed on the floor wishing he the pain would ease or that he would die before it could get any worse.
Gackt was kinda satisfied with his work and lifted the small body up in his strong arms and carried him to his own room. Gently he laid the pained boy down on bed and stroked a strand of hair out of his face. "It will get better" he said gently, even tough he was kind of sure that Teru didn't hear him.
In the back of his pain filled mind Teru was vaguely aware that Gackt had moved him from the floor and taken him to a bed somewhere. Even though it wasn't a big comfort the soft bed still felt better than the hard and cold stone floor.
He could feel the pain spread and it felt like his whole body was in fire.
"Please kill me.... " he begged hoping to end the pain. Even death would be better than this suffering.
