the fires of pompeii.

Another tearjerker. The last ten minutes were beyond intense. Catherine Tate is the most wonderful woman in the world, and her performance in this episode cements this fact. Donna tries so hard to save people, and it destroys her that she can't do anything more to help.

Doctor: Nothing can survive it. Certainly not us.
Donna: ...Never mind us.
Doctor: Push this lever and it's over. 20,000 people.

Donna: YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE THEM!
Doctor: Don't you think I've done enough? History's back in place and everyone dies.
Donna: You've got to go back! Doctor, I'm telling you! Take this thing BACK! ...It's not fair.
Doctor: No it's not.
Donna: But your own planet. It burned.
Doctor: That's just it. Don't you see, Donna? Can't you understand? If I could go back and save them, I would, but I can't. I can never go back. I can't. I just can't. I can't.
Donna: Just someone. Please. Not the whole town. Just save someone.

Donna: Thank you.
Doctor: Yeah. ...You were right. Sometimes I need someone. Welcome aboard.
Donna: Yeah.

I WEPT, OKAY? I WEPT. FROMSOMUCHHAPPY. ;_;

Some high points: The "We're not married. Definitely not married." jokes have started. :) The whole episode was very well written. A nice refreshing change. LOTS of cool stuff.

PS. I swear to Tinkerbell Jesus. When they were telling the future to the Doctor and Donna and then said to Donna: "You've got something on your back."... This better not be bad news of what's to come. Nothing - I repeat - NOTHING is going to happen to her. I swear. RTD, don't make me come over there. I know where you live. You bastard.

And next week looks like it'll be even better.

Doctor: Oh no no. We're not married.
Donna: So not married.
Doctor: Never.
Donna: Never ever.
