So, I went to go see Mark Rose all by myself last night, because Sarah got the stomach flu yesterday morning. Well, with my mother, but she doesn't really count in this case.
We got there about an hour and a half early and I sold Sarah's ticket to the girl behind me in line, but it was worth standing outside and freezing, because I was one person from the stage. And I was standing between her and her friend, so it was almost like leaning on the stage anyway, haha.
Misdelphia was first, and they were fun! The guys all looked like they were enjoying themselves, even if the crowd was boring and really rude. Seriously. I've never been in a crowd that uninterested and bored. I don't know if it was because everyone was there for Craig and no one else, but it was slightly unnerving.
They played a sweet cover of Love Story (yeah, Taylor Swift), which I have a video of, but those will come in a separate post when I'm done uploading them all.
Next was
Sleeping with Sirens. They're not my style of music at all, but I appreciate the fact that Justin can do splits while playing. Here, have a picture of Kellin.
Or two, even!
And then it was Mark's set! I was so excited, haha. I was practically front row by then, after all. I got a few pictures of him setting up...
I was very sad because everyone around me was talking! It was terrible. I think part of the reason was because they were all bored, after Misdelphia and Sleeping with Sirens. After all, Mark is just a dude with an acoustic guitar...
He played most of my favorites off the EP, and a few Spitalfield songs I recognized! Videos of that later...
And he promised me the set list! He took out a piece of paper from his pocket, and told us, "Well... nah, I'm not going to read it. It's my set list, not poetry." So I asked him if I could have it afterward, and he said yes. Then handed it to me after the set from the stage. There was this one random girl who asked for it too after, but he was like "Nope, sorry, she asked for it before the show." :)
During the show, Mark told us all about how he rented a PT Cruiser and is "just zooming around the place." I can't even.
So after Mark, I got out of the crowd to get some water and breathe. Ran into Craig a couple times, but he was always sort of running somewhere, so I guessed he was pretty busy.
I took the chance to go out to the merch booth, where Misdelphia's merch guy tried to flirt with me. He was kinda ridiculous, haha. Mark's merch girl saved me though, and I ended up leaving a dollar in the tip cup. I also bought the brown "You Come Along" t-shirt, because I've been wanting to buy that for a while now.
I also sat out for most of Tides of Man, mostly because I was very uninterested in hearing screamo songs by then. Watched some of the Lakers game from the bar...
I went back in briefly for Jonny Craig's set. It was so cute to see him and Craig interacting on stage. The last song, Children of Divorce, Jonny played it acoustic and dedicated it to Craig. And then Craig was running around in the crowd, singing along as loudly and obnoxiously as he possibly could, and hugging random people. It was so cute.
Afterwards, of course, was
Cinematic Sunrise! This is their last tour, so I honestly think that this series of shows is the best they've ever played.
Before the concert, I was hesitant even about staying for Cinematic, because I'm not a huge fan of Craig's vocals in Chiodos, but I do like Cinematic a little. So I ended up staying near the back of the crowd, but I don't regret staying at all. Craig puts on an energetic live show, and I honestly think he's a better live vocalist than he is a recording vocalist.
I have videos of If Lilly Isn't Back By Sunset and Goodbye Friendship, Hello Heartache.
Pete Wentz actually came out and played a few songs with Cinematic on bass; it was pretty funny. They talked about girls at Chain Reaction the previous night who ripped Craig's favorite shirt off.
The set was pretty good, I must say. They played the entire EP, plus a hardcore version of You Told Me You Loved Me.
Afterwards, I went back out to the merch area, to see if I could talk to Mark for a little while. And I did, even though it took about fifteen minutes to navigate the crowd, because Craig was supposed to come out and sign a little later. Mark and I got into a conversation about Sharpies. And how I am always prepared, and Sharpies are not refillable. And Alex from Misdelphia told me that I should have more, and I said that I did, and the entire time, Mark is trying to figure out whether or not you can take apart a Sharpie. Dork. <3
And then he asked this random girl if she could take a picture for us. And she did, and Mark wanted to make sure that it was a good picture, so I showed it to him. I kid you not, his exact words were, "Aw, hey! Who are those two cuties?" He is the most adorable thing on the planet!
I look sort of terrible and Mark looks a little like a creeper because of his ridiculous mustache. But I feel that this picture is perfect regardless.
And I have a picture of the set list, and the CD he signed for me.
