The Bohemian Girl: success!

Show last night was MAGNIFICENT. :D The tech guy videorecorded it and we will be able to get copies after Monday. I AM SO EXCITED.

Seriously, all kinds of things went better than they ever have. The chorus, a motley collection of some nine or ten kids aged 11 to 20, sounded LEGIT. This is an opera and they sounded like an opera chorus. I don't think the little ones had much of an idea how hard this thing actually is. Ah, youth.

So given the sheer quantity of awesome onstage, the odd hiccups didn't really matter that much, like when I kicked a silver goblet and it almost made it to the front row and hit somebody because we'd been practicing with a styrofoam cup, or when Thaddeus' commission got stuck in his pocket, or when Arline's costumes kept producing wardrobe malfunctions, or when I almost didn't make it out the Door of Kidnapping in the twelve bars I had to book it offstage and around.

And we had an audience! I couldn't see it clearly, but from the sounds / impression, I think it must have been a good quarter-to-third of the theatre. For something like this, that's pretty excellent.

We went to Earl's afterwards, and it was splendid, and I got carded when I ordered a margarita. O_o I suspect it was partly because I was sitting at the young-people table and not the grown-up table, but still.

And now it's over. And I should really renew my library books, because now I actually have time to read plays.

singing, awesome
