I'm looking for a poem to use as a hypothetical classroom activity for my course.
I ran across W. H. Auden's "True Love".
I hadn't intended on crying today, but all right, then.
Something about it pulls at my heart and I would love, I would love to teach from it, but I fear I would spoil the lesson with tears.
I need to learn to feel strongly and direct it through activity other than weeping.
Nothing for it but practice. If I can manage to read The Red Tree aloud in a class and remain stoic, perhaps this poem, too, is yet within my reach.
