Things that suck the most about losing my car:
1. I've found myself without a hair tie the past 3 times I've needed one. I used to keep a bunch of them on my shifter.
2. I had JUST filled up my tank. I half-jokingly asked the guy at the tow yard if I could siphon the gas out, and he said no. Naturally, Dustin's Escape (which I am currently driving) needs gas.
3. I lost my Pirelli tires. Those little bastards were expensive!
4. I lost my strut bar too. I could've given that to a fellow Focus Friend. :(

Dustin is being such a trooper about everything. I feel so bad when we go out and people take a good hard look at the purpley-yellowy-greeny bruise on my arm and assume the worst about him. Dustin decided he was going to give himself a black eye so he can go around and tell people that I started it.

On the insurance front, my claim was transferred to a lady, who decided to call me at around 9am today (despite me asking my agent and my initial claims guy to please make note that I am only available between 12 and 1 pm and after 5 pm on weekdays). She said (in a very snooty tone) that she's "familiar with the area" and "knows that people commonly speed down this particular section of it" (Funny... In the video I took of random cars driving average speeds to get from the point where I saw her to the point where the collision occurred, NONE of those drivers were speeding. But what do I know? It's just video). With that in mind, she said it's more than likely going to be my fault, because I "didn't take her increasing speed into account before initiating the turn." Oh, okay. So I should've assumed that she was going to continue to accelerate beyond the legal limit before I decided to make the turn that I would've had more than ample time to complete if she was going the correct speed? Sorry, I must've missed the memo that announced that all other drivers are now at the mercy of speeders.
Insurance will more than cover everything if they decide that I am at fault, but I just don't think that she should be let off scot free. Her recklessness played into the whole thing just as much whatever malarkey they're trying to pin on me.

I'm supposed to hear back about the value of my car sometime tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out what kind of replacement car I want versus what kind of replacement car I can actually afford. I'm definitely going for a late model used car, most likely another Focus, because I really did love mine. I'd like an '08 with SYNC. I was thinking about trading in my '07 right after they released the '08 models, but it didn't turn out to be a worthwhile move. I've always fancied them, though. I'd like a coupe, but the sensible part of my brain knows that a sedan would probably be a better investment.

Surprisingly, the infamous stiffening of the neck and back muscles that everyone's been psyching me up for hasn't happened yet. I took 600mg of ibuprofen for the first two days, and I haven't felt any pain or soreness since then. I've been trying to stay active to keep the muscles from tightening, and I've been sleeping with my sleep number set to 95 (which is quite the change from my usual 60, but necessary for proper back support). I probably wouldn't turn down a massage if someone were to offer one, but I'm really shocked that I'm doing as well as I am.

Speaking of doing well, here are
1. Random acts of kindness.
2. Hand sanitizer. Especially here at work, where the soap dries my hands out something FIERCE.
3. Lemon yogurt.
4. Really fuzzy socks when it's cold.
5. Purple eyeliner. Used and applied correctly, it's gorgeous. I fell victim to its beauty and purchased a crayon liner in purple. Worst idea ever. Should've gone for a gel.
6. How great your hair looks when you leave the salon. of cour you can never recreate that EXACT look ever again, but it's nice while it lasts.
7. How zen it feels when everything is in its right place. This is a rare thing for me. I choose to believe that I save it to keep the feeling from becoming commonplace and boring.
8. Clean laundry. I can sleep in later when I know I won't have to go digging through the closet to unearth a work appropriate outfit.
9. Plaid. I am such a whore for plaid.
10. Ska, and ska type music. Partiuclarly only when there are horns involved.

vroomvroom, 10 things, love
