Still fighting the battle against those awful invaders in my computer. Constantly running Ewido, Spybot, EZ Antivirus and Registry Mechanic, over and over, and still things are popping up. Guess they're just not finding the source of the problem. I'm wondering what else to do right now. Anyone have any ideas? Hmm... Seems that most of the virus warnings are from stuff in my windows temp directory. Maybe I should just delete everything there and hope for the best? It is the temp directory, so deleting everything there shouldn't cause any damage.... <.<
At least the viruses seem to only be attacking certain types of files, thankfully no image, video, or zip files seem to be affected, so my anime, manga and picture collection are all safe. They seem to be mostly attacking text and MS word files, in terms of corruption, but some of my programs are sure to be affected too, since I think they're also attacking certain dll and exe files. Looks like most of the stuff attacking my computer is low or medium risk, but there are a few high risk things that are really starting to make me worry. I'm going to go nuts. I hate it when my poor compy is under attack like this, but who doesn't, right?
Right now I'm checking on all my story files and trying to save what I can. Thankfully most of my stories are backed up on my writing journal and if they're corrupted I'll only lose what I've written most recently. The only story that seems to be completely gone is my most recent one, the CLex fic I was writing for the CLexFest, which we were asked not to post online so I didn't have a backup off of my computer. While I had printed a bit of it out, so I didn't lose my outline or the first scenes I had written, everything else is gone. Yes, I had a backup on my computer, but it was the backup that was attacked this time. The main file had died when my computer kept shutting off during the overheating problem I had before. So, yeah, most of what I wrote is gone now. Normally I'd back things up on a floppy disk too, but my floppy drive hasn't been working lately and I was too lazy to look for a CD-RW. *sigh* Damn my laziness, now I have to withdraw from the CLexFest. ...And now it seems that my MS Word program was also affected. I'm really gonna cry. T.T
Well, even in the midst of the madness, there is a bit of good news. I managed to win an auction for a digital camera at eBay and it should be here by Monday (if the UPS guy can manage to make it into the building) so I'll have a digital camera again. Yay! ^_^ I'll have more details on that later though, since I need to get back to the battle. Wish me luck!
