Big congrats to 2006 Schoolies/Leavers!
Living in Dunsborough is pretty boring, the locals are strange, the tourists are annoying and thier kids are the devil's spawn. But for a few weeks at the end of each year we get a free show. Entertainment that never dissapoints.
This entertainment is Schoolies / Leavers. The 17 year olds who have just completed their last year of High School and are now ready to party and have fun ALL WEEK! YEAH!...........only they dont.......and they do really stupid things while being drunk and partying.
The cops over react to EVERYTHING (including the locals who arnt even leavers) the bible bashing nuts who run the Dunsborough Schoolies Association Committe (DSAC) (see its name is evern fucked up!) either dont even have kids or dont have a clue how to relate to kids and the older locals are so against and/or scared of the schoolies they wont have anything to do with them at night!
Just to top off this crazy scene we have the Perth newspapers who EXAGERATE EVERYTHING. (Not only that but they make up ALOT of their "stories")
Personaly I think Schoolies should be like it was 2 to 4 years ago. The Police were there but only incase something went extreamly wrong. "Parent Vonunteers" (now DSAC) were their to help the kids who had too much to drink or took something illegal, not to shake their heads and report back to mission controle about how our of controle kids today are and how if they were good little christians they wouldnt do that (helloooooooo, your kids are out there doing THE EXACT SAME THING you just dont know about it!).
And as for the newspaper reporst of the town being "trashed" and smashed windows everywhere? Not ever true.
In all the years I've lived here I havn't seen one shop window smashed or any shops trashed. So they pushed over and broke a huge pot plant one year and pulled out a few street signs. This happens EVERYWHERE not just at leavers!
If anything the leavers are funny in a 'thats-so-stupid-and-I-shouldnt-be-laughing' kind of way.
Wow I've written alot......and I'm so sleepy.......just want sleep................maybe I'll post more on the crazy antics of the leavers later.
P.S. Schoolies/Leavers week officialy starts tomorrow. Wednesday 22nd November to 7th December.
