Oh yeah. You know this is gonna be a great entry when I start it out with Dido lyrics.
Man, it's been raining so much the last few days. You can count on it raining at least once, possibly twice every day.
I had a nice day, though. I slept until 2:30 and then got up and finished Mary, Called Magdalene. Everything in that book was totally contrary to what I "knew" about Mary Magdalene. According to the book, not only was she NOT a prostitute, she also was completely celibate, had the temperament of an angel, and definitely was not sleeping with Jesus. Just from what I've seen on the tv movies (Yeah, yeah, shut up.) and in "Jesus Christ Superstar", I thought she had a little bit of attitude and spent a lot more time trying to shut people out and being kind of a bitch, but was totally smitten with JC. Not so, according to the novel.
It was also interesting, because in the novel she was arrested for praying to God to heal a kid who got run over by a carriage, and they threw her in jail and whipped her. She was locked up for 10 days with a couple of women who'd been in jail for so long that their entire selves were gone. They didn't speak or respond to any kind of stimuli; they just ate, slept and everything like drones. That was kind of scary. She also had this guy, Stephen, who she was in love with. He asked her to marry him, but she couldn't because she had to serve God. Even though Jesus SAID that it wasn't a sin to get married and stuff, but I guess she just couldn't do it. I thought that was depressing. No one else would marry her since she'd been raped, but I guess she found a greater love with God. He never gave up, though, and it totally broke his heart. Mean.
And yep, I watched M*A*S*H today. I was so glad to do so. It makes me feel so light. ^_^ (Fuck ER.)
The first episode was the one where Potter gives Sophie to Cho Pak, and that kid was hiding from the military. Man. Y'know, it's really sad, because now Potter's totally intriguing me. That half-smile he gave Cho Pak was just the cutest thing. And Radar says "That was the best thing I ever saw anybody do, ever."... yes, I've seen the episode a million times, but it's so squishy.
And the second one was the one where the Cardinal was coming and Mulcahy was freaking the hell out. Man, did he spaz out at the end there. I forgot that he was that passionate when giving his sermon. Maaaaa-an.
Oh, and as a brief... something, I actually won a M*A*S*H-Slash award: for "Characterization of Max Klinger". My 5-min fic, "I Still Know" got second. Heh. That's cool. I'm gonna do better this year. :P
