Recently , I've changed the way I work. It seems to work good for me. I've been trying to spend only a couple hours a day at a time drawing , rather than sitting down for a whole day. This seems to improve my concentration , and want to draw. It's nice , a little like a reward system....i.e. I eat, then exercise or do housework , then I get to draw. It's nice to have something to look forward to , and since I've been waiting for it then I don't have so much impatience to screw it up , or producing something quick I hate and then have just wasted several hours of my life on. But that's not always bad...I mean , each piece I do is another bit of practice or experience gained.
Talking of things better than nothing , I think I will follow the path to become a children's book illustrator....I like this , it's fun , but it's not my favourite thing to do in art - but , it's better than not being in a job with no art at all! My real ambitions lie in realism art , and that's something I have worked out that I could not do for a job. I get anxious and stress under the pressure of having to have a certain piece complete for a certain time , with high expectations and a possible fail at the end if the customers do not like it. It's hard for me to finish a piece of art , know it's done and then have someone tell you that you need to return to it to change something or improve another area, or even worse - start again and redo the whole thing. That's also hard on a person's self confidence too. But you can either choose to be knocked down and complain , or you can get knocked down , get back up and learn from it so you know not to let it happen again. I'm someone who enjoys learning , and I must admit , am actually a little competitive too.
Yesterday, I had a lot of fun with Stacey. It was nice to go out and just do whatever , however being stuck in the car for a long time and the weather messing with my head brings on the headaches. We had a laugh round the town , a late lunch , and a random trip to Staples haha!
