I'm officially on vacation THANK GOD. I've had a rough few days at work and the thought of not having to be back there for seven days is wonderful. My headache is FINALLY gone and I woke up without feeling like I was going to puke for the first time in a week. O_o ( Read more... )

I'd love to see a Sard in person. He looks fantastic. But then again, I like quite a few of the MA's there even if I think having a doll that big would be 0.0 (and maybe too big for my tastes).

He's a Soom LE, so he's not the same size as the Mecha Angels. It surprised me when I stood Lassa next to him--I'd always figured Soom's hooved dolls were 80cm like the Mecha Angels, but they're apparently 70cm. Go fig. But a friend of a friend owns him, so hopefully I'll get to ogle her big demon boy fairly often. ♥

Huh. I thought he was 80cm, too. learn something new every day. Ogling demon boy sounds like a pleasant pastime *snicker*.

XD It really is. It's also a cheap alternative to buying him myself--she got the fullset, which apparently ran her $1100. I was kind of afraid to breathe on him. >>;

Incidentally, the height difference between a 60cm and a 70cm ought to be about right for the height difference between Moswen and his man. One of my roommate's 60cm boys is currently snuggled up to Lassa, and the height difference is just enough that he can use Lassa's shoulder for a pillow. Doing the same experiment with a 45cm and a 60cm, the MSD's head can rest on the SD's chest. My roommate's MSD is a Minifee and therefore scrawny for his size range, so it might not be that bad of a contrast with a larger-bodied MSD.

Any good news on the money front? Because I'm about ready to take up a "Get This Fine Canadian Lady a Doll, For Pete's Sake" collection.

Well, the site for AoD says that Chi is 46cm. I know there's a slight variation in what the company says and what owners claim, but that's likely just the whole manufacturing process and a few cm here or there are expected (in my mind anyway ( ... )

In my experience? Believe the owners. I swear doll sites take their measurements from the original prototype and never bother to measure the final production-line doll. Elfdoll lists their boys as 60cm, but owners report they're closer to 57cm. Here's a nice height comparison of SD-sized dolls--it's an older picture and I know Elfdoll and Souldoll have both had major body redesigns since, but it's still a stunning size range.

*snorts* I would think that the doll owners have it right, too. I suppose I won't know what the AoD mini size is until I get him or happen to see one when I'm at Ycon.

That is an amazing range in size for the SD's. I would have honest to god thought that they would be more standardized (when they claim to be 60cm dolls), but the difference between the happydoll and the volks is... wow. Thank you for that comparison pic.

Since you came up with the amazing height photo, could I trouble you about the tanned skin tone and if you know anything about how dark/light it might be on the AoD's? There was someone on DoA who had a tanned one but the pic of the doll had one of those "this picture has been moved/deleted" messages *frowns*.

And sorry for spamming your LJ *toes ground*.

Every doll company tries to be unique, so a size range isn't that surprising. You should see the boobie size ranges on the girls! @_@ Usually clothes swap easily between dolls in a given size range, though some dolls need more loosely cut clothes than others. Generally, Volks' sizes are considered the gold standard and everyone else branches out from there.

Found a post with an AoD tanned girl with two other tanned girls. She's far and away the darkest of the lot--very deep tan. Since I know that's what you were going for, I'll take that as a good sign. ^_^ You might want to try seeing one in person first a guarantee, though.

You are officially made of awesome!

Yep, that tan would work exceptionally well for what I have in mind and negates the need to have him dyed. Of course, I'd love to see one in person because cameras/monitors can have variations in the colour of things but that looks pretty good for my needs.

I had assumed Volks were the go-to-guys for sizing but I was still surprised at the variation when they all claim to be 60cm. I suppose that's the architect/engineer in me *laughs*. When I see a number for something I automatically assume it is actually what the thing is question turns out to be size/length wise.

I'd heard that some people found the Unidolls to have bubble butts and thunder thighs while the AoD boys are said to be... errr... more than expected in the package department. And yes, I giggled like mad when I first read that.
